Hey guys! We just got our order from Paul at Diode Dynamics. All of the LED bulbs for vanity, glove box, trunk, overhead, tag went in without a hitch.

Anyone have any Genesis Coupe specific install instructions for the HID kit? Were any of you able to install it without the extra relay or whatever? Seems easy enough.....

Pics/Tips might be good as we'll be attempting the install soon!

Casey, I've got pics of my install without the harness, but I do recommend using the harness. I'll try and do a write up either tonight or tomorrow after work if you'd like.

Just some pics to help you out hopefully.. got a few more but they need to be resized to be uploaded.

find a clamp or something to hold this down when you drill the hole for wires to go through.. mine ran away on me the first time.

you don't need to undo any screws to release this clip, replace the bulb with the HID, the prongs from the kit just slide into the plug from the light housing, nothing fancy, friction holds them in. Red to Green, Black to Black.

I never could come up with a location to use these mounts.. if you do.. let me know.. the ballasts just kinda sit in there right now with tape and zipties.

    Snoopy,

thanks for those pics so far but isn't that the wrong bulb? That one with the prongs is for high beams I think? The h11b ones twist in...

Do you need the relay? How risky is it running without? It's not an issue of the money just one less thing to have to order and wire up.

    Paul any comments?

Sorry about that, you're right. I changed the highbeams the same time I upgraded to HID's, and the lows twist in, but that pic is the back of the highbeam. I'll see if I can find a mid-way through pic.
Have you got your kit yet? Paul does send instructions but they are kinda hard to follow because the diagrams are poor and the english is bad.

I bought my HID's back in October and ran without the relay harness until just last week because I couldn't figure out how to install it. HID's comsume less electricty than standard halogens, but they require 10-20 thousand volts to arc the gasses to ignite them. That high of voltage is a lot to ask of system that was designed for 11-13.5 volts. The relay kit protects your OEM equipment from failure, it's that extra blanket of protection. Also, with the relay kit, I've noticed it doesn't take as long for the HID to warm up as it did without the kit.

As for some installation tips I did just find this video that Paul put together.

Only shows how to get the bulb into the Genesis Coupe housing but not where the rest of the connections go to. Also I'm starting to think we might want the relay... Just to be safe.

All you need is a 881 kit for the fog light (or 880, it's the same for HIDs)

Not sure what you guys are saying about the installation... here's a guide for the relay installation, it's pretty straightforward:
