my trip module is defective DAMN :'( those days everything goes wrong!
70K in debt (not counting my gencoupe loan) so its not that great for me ether but the knowledge is fun... Well If I make a center screen one I'll definately release plans so others can make them or even build a few extras and sell them... Hell maybe I'll sell the design to PA and have them sell them... But as for right now too poor and too busy to do it...

no power into it... the led on it stop lighting up
Til the redline ;)
double check it by plugging your OEM IDD back in and see if that screen works.. if not then...something else happened.. if it does, then the Trip module is defective and you should call PowerAXEL or send Arvin an e-mail.

my owm trip is working fine... i'll call arvin later on today i'm working :P
Til the redline ;)
Alright so I've been working on trying to get the dimmer function to work again. And well.. I need some info from unavi about the trip computer because if you disconnect the trip info cord altogether the dimmer works again.. but the moment you connect it to the Trip module it turns the lights to maximum again. I tried putting a resistor inline but it didn't do anything. I've found that the dimmer is controlled by two wires:
These two wires are the only ones that are affected by the rheostat on the side. I don’t know if the Trip module pulls power from those feeds at all.. since it takes the unavi’s power directly from ACC and Battery, the Trip module however could use that illumination circuit some how..
I’ve already voided my IDD warranty by taking it apart.. so I’m really hoping unavi helps PA out and gets a solution to everyone’s problem or can provide a wiring diagram for the trip module so people can get their dimmers working. This dimmer problem however will not solve the “Display” button problem from the radio as it seems to tell the monitor to turn off through the CANBUS system.

Yes but then in the same post you said this...
So compared to the Pioneer units, it does offer little, especially for how much the unavi cost. Just trying to do a side by side comparisonThe unavi will not play DVD's (without an external DVD player), it doesn't connect directly to speakers and it's not amped.
I did. Liked the video, but there was one thing that was technically wrong. You mounted the GPS antenna on top of those windshield dots. Just so you know, that can effect reception. I know this because a client mounted his Escort 9500ci GPS there and it would rarely pull in a good signal. Once we moved it the GPS worked fine. Other than that (and the glovebox placement issue) it was a good informative video and hopefully will help those that watch it.Check out my official review and other related links
Well I wouldn't say lose. It would just be displayed on the Pioneer unit instead of the IDD.. so no real big deal.Changing your headunit you'd lose some of the information that would be displayed on the IDD
Wish I could help you guys with the issues that you're having. It would be fun. I am a certified MECP Master installer with lots of diagnostic toys. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram of the car. Other than that this car is cake to work on. It's one of the reasons why I like the car so much![]()
You'll note that cost is something that got the unavi poor marks on. The pioneer unit would be the better buy if you're looking to replace both your head unit and add nav functionality. I don't want to replace my head unit.
What type of vehicle does your client own? Those dots have not affected GPS reception at all in my testing, I get 95-100% signal strength all the time regardless of orientation and am connected to on average 11-12 satelites.
I haven't tried disconnecting the radio and seeing if any other information isn't displayed. I don't have auto-climate in my coupe so the only other info for me is outside temp. But I'm pretty sure the radio information gets sent to the BCM then to the IDD.
I'm fairly new at this so I can only go on what I've done :P

If memory serves me right it was a Sonata, but all cars with those dots are the same. They are for manufacturing purposes and are metallic in nature. If you go on the Escort Radar forums (or similar forum) it's a pretty common complaint.
Regarding the nav, I'm just weighing my options now so I know how to order the car. Right now the Pioneer is way ahead, especially when price is considered, but I need to buy the Genesis wiring diagrams before making a final decision. Thanks for all your input and help.
