    Default Strut Tower Brace

2.0T base models in Canada don't get strut tower braces so I ordered one a few weeks ago and it arrived today, install took bout 10 minutes. Was going to wait for an aftermarket one but decided since it was only 80$ I'd go with a stock one cause I don't drive hard enough to warrent a beefier one.

might have noticed I also put in a RR3002 K&N filter

had to make this bracket to hold the filter from moving too much, fabbed it out of aluminum stock and painted it with ceramic paint.

VERY NICE! That's suprisingly innexpensive for the stock brace. I think that it should do the job just fine. When installing did you have to remove any bolts from below or was it all done from the top of the engine bay? Also good work on the intake and bracket. Cool custom job.

just the three strut bolts that hold it in the tower at the top. Undo them one at a time with the shocks compressed (just on the road, don't have it on a stand otherwise they might pop out of place). install the brackets, they come marked R and L which you light up with the R and L on your towers, when you look at the car head on, the L goes on the right side and the R goes on the left, it's based on drivers perspective and they only go on one way. They might need a little persuasion to fit over the bolts, gently tap them down with a cloth covered hammer to avoid marking them. then tighten the bolts back down with about 15-25lbs, too much and you'll strip them then you're hooped. Brace goes on last and you can tighten that up pretty good.

When I got a bit more cash gonna pull it off and get it powder coated the same colour as Tial's purple BOV.

was thinking also of redoing all the silver in the car with that colour too but wonder if it might, no offense to anyone but since I'm a guy, that it might "chick" my car up.

I wouldn't run a purple engine bay personally, but there's nothing necessarily feminine about it, it's all about your tastes and what you're comfortable with.
If you don't believe me, google 'jdm bubble shifter" lol

If you can run that in your car, you can do pretty much anything to it. ;)

Nice price for sure! A nice combo of purple and silver wouldn't be too bad at all.

    Default Good choice!

~Wise decision. The aftermarket killer bars you see... all chrome and billet steel/aluminum/ indestructible look are actually VERY BAD! Put a pencil between your index fingers and move the fingers back and forth... nothing stops them, yet they keep the ame distance between themselves. For a front strut bar to work it has to maintain the POSITION as well as the distance between shock towers. Having TWO attachement points at each end actually makes your front end much stiffer than a solid piece of billet steel attached with a PIVOTING joint at each end. It may not have killer looks, but it sure works better than many overpriced pieces out there

^All of the aftermarket bars I've seen for the GC have atleast two attach points on each end, but your facts are accurate.

I find it interesting that most people don't have this under their hood already, it's the OEM strut tower bracer from Hyundai.
