Nice choice! Can't wait to see them installed. Any plans to lower the car? I think it would look real sick if you did.
Hey all!
After a long and difficult search I finally placed my order over at TireRack for some new wheels for my Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
Now keep in mind my car is my daily driver and a demo vehicle for our site here so I went with a nice sporty, lightweight and stylish looking wheel. I considered doing the whole "Murdered Out" thing but in my opinion I think that trend is going out of style. Soon black wheels will likely be the equivalent of chrome lips....played out.
I went with a beautiful 1pc. Low Pressure Cast/Shot Peened construction wheel from the Italian wheel maker O.Z. Racing.
The wheels are the O.Z. Ultraleggera in a Bright Silver finish. The specs on the wheels that I purchased are:
- Twelve thin spokes
- Low pressure casting
- Snap-in real carbon fiber cap
- European DTM race design
- Lightweight technology
Front Fitment:
18x8
Offset: +35
Weight: 18.8lbs
Rear Fitment:
18x9
Offset: +35
Weight: 20.8lbs
According to an offset calculator these new wheels should fit nicely on the Genesis Coupe. The front wheels should extend an additional 4-6mm further out versus the stock 18x7.5's. The rear wheels should extend an additional 11-13mm versus the stock 18x8's.
I know many of you are going for the "Hella Flush" look with very aggressive offsets around +20-22mm but I figure this setup should look very good regardless. In the future I may consider a small wheel spacer to give it the full "Hella Flush" look. A set of 12-15mm spacers would achieve this look.
Also in the future a set of lowering springs from Eibach are very likely.
I will be using the stock 225/45/18's on the front and 245/45/18's on the rear for the time being as I still have pleanty of tread left on them. Once it's time for new tires I'll likely go 245/45/18 front and 265/45/18 in the rear.
The wheels are set to arrive from TireRack next Wednesday and I should have them mounted around Thursday or Friday in time for the January 9th meet on Saturday!
I look forward to seeing you all out in West Palm Beach and can't wait to share the new mods with you all.
Here is a photoshop of the wheels installed on my car for an idea of how they will look!

AWESOME! That's a lot of unsprung weight saved. Cool Beans!
I believe I'll be looking at somewhere between 5-7lbs savings per wheel which will be nice. Also hoping that the installers will be reasonable with pricing. I think usually it's about $20 per wheel to get tires installed.
Also does anyone know how the TPMS sensors will react? I heard from TireRack I would have to go to a Hyundai dealership to have them reset is all.

Are the new wheels TPMS ready? Some rims can't have sensors
the oem rims are 33...you really should be going out to 30 to 25...
