Chat box?

I was visiting AutoPhotog.com today and noticed they have this neat little chat box up top for real time conversation between members.
You have to be logged in to see it, but registration is free, Casey, if you wanna take a look and see what it might take to add that into our site it might be a fun. way to increase the community feeling and help us get to know each other.

Good idea, few other forums I go to have this feature and it's fun to use just for chatting with members.

I looked into it a bit guys.... As our members start to grow the chatbox will pretty much just slow down the site. The forum makes it simple enough to PM, get someones AIM or email to communicate. What would be the benefit to the shoutbox?

Idle conversation with online members without having to add each individual member to your AIM list.
Also, people like me can't use AIM at work, which is the only place I have internet access.

Also Canadian's don't use AIM, we use MSN.

Just use one of those all-in-one clients and use them all!

I actually prefer Yahoo, but like CodeFox said, I use an all-in-one, but they are all blocked at work.

I will look into it further guys. Maybe i'll use a third party source or run a secondary chat CMS and link it to the forums? Don't worry I'm working for you!
