I purchased a Genesis Coupe about 6 months ago over at Crown (awesome dealership) in St. Petersburg. I first went to Courtesy (anything but!) Hyundai in Tampa and had one of the most absurd dealer experiences. After explaining I wanted a the 3.8L with a manual transmission, I was led to the 2.0L with an automatic.
As it turned out they didn't have the trim I wanted in a color I would take. But I had yet to drive the car and wanted to see how it drove at least. I asked if I could test drive one of the 3.8s they had there. Instead the salesman asked what it would take for me to buy the 2.0 AT (something he asked me about 4 or 5 times while I was there). I wanted the larger displacement engine so there was nothing and I reiterated this.
I was then told I couldn't test drive one of the 3.8L cars unless I was going to buy it. What?? I'd never even sat in one before. Heck I'd only heard of the car a few days prior. I wanted to see what it was like to drive it. And I wanted a color other than what they had. Absolutely absurd. I had to haggle for 20 minutes at the dealership before they FINALLY relented and went to get the keys.
I realized how absurd the whole thing was and while they went to get the car ready, I called Crown to see if they had 3.8s on the lot, which they did. I walked out of Courtesy and went over Crown and test drove two different Coupes. Since they didn't have the one I wanted either they were smart enough to set up a dealer trade with another dealership to get the one I wanted.
Don't waste your time here. Absurdly pushy and rude salespeople who must have learned how to sell cars on another planet where people buy their vehicles sight unseen without ever sitting in them.

) and he gave me that look but as soon as I took control of the situation and basically schooled him on the car he knew I wasn't in there to just fool around. I got my car just a couple of weeks later after they accepted my offer and I've been a happy coupe owner ever since!
