Hi fellow Genesis owners!
I'm new to this forum and noticed this forum section and just wanted to say hi to everyone.
A little intro...
I got my 2010 Genesis Coupe (3.8L) last year and have been loving it
I wish I could say the same about my experience with the dealership that I bought it from... particularly their service department. I doubt many members here live in Albuquerque, but if there are any, I would advise you to avoid Southwest Hyundai (
New Hyundai and Used Cars in Albuquerque, NM | Larry H. Miller Southwest Hyundai Serving Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas
) like the plague. Tom Hornback (https://pictures.dealer.com//lhmhyun...0040806422.jpg) is the dealership "General Manager"... and let me tell you, this guy must have been born with a silver spoon up his.... ahemm... mouth, b/c he doesn't know the first thing about dealership management let alone customer orientation.
I'll try to keep this short. Shortly after buying my coupe, I dropped it off with their service department (all day long) to perform some super simple tasks. James Sanchez is the service department manager by the way. They never called me to let me know if the car was ready to be picked up, so I called them towards the end of the work day and Mr. Sanchez said that everything was done and it's ready to be picked up. I get down there, and get told again (this time to my face) that everything is ready, only to soon realize that not a single thing was done. I was PO'd to say the least. One of the items was to put some wheel locks on... I kid you not. "Would you like to wait a little while for us to put them on?". I replied "you had my car for 8 hours (all day long) and now you want me to wait more?! Hell no!".
On a different day I brought my coupe in for a detailing. A little background... when I bought the car they promised a detailing service that was "valued at $300". I get the coupe back and not only was there still dirt on the car, but the clear coat was scratched to hell. I looked at the other cars on their lot and they all had this problem too. When you look at the car in direct sunlight, you can see micro scratches all over them. Probably unnoticeable to most people... After a wax job they go away, but this just goes to show that the car wasn't even waxed. So much for the "$300 value". When I complained about this, Tom Hornback threw a BF (b*tch fit) right in front of his customer and subordinates (looks like a nice guy in the picture though!).
So through all of this, being a first time brand new car owner, I've learned a very important lesson. Once they give you the keys, drive away and never go back. Even if they entice you with service coupons, don't fall for it. They are in the business of selling cars, not keeping them in good working condition. If you scored a good deal on your car (like I did), they'll try to get that money back out of you later on via dishonest/corrupt "service".
The most recent incident I've had with Southwest Hyundai is they lied about changing my oil. They had me bring it in for a "first time free oil change". It seemed like a win-win deal... except it wasn't... they lied about doing it! After all the hell their dealership put me through I decided to start changing the oil myself. Low and behold, I found out that the oil filter housing bolt was never once removed. It is a 27mm plastic bolt and it scuffs slightly when it's removed (and believe me I was careful when removing it). It was flawless before I removed it, hence it was never removed.
Thank You to the person(s) that put together the DIY oil changing procedure on this site!
As for Tom Hornback and his smug SOB cronies over at the Southwest Hyundai service department in Albuquerque, shame on all of you! You'll eventually reap what you sow... just wait and see.
