    Default hey hey! from europe?!?!

    Hey everyone,

This is my first post (I think), so I'll be introducing myself. I'm 20 years old and I recently bought a genesis coupe 2.0T and had it shipped overseas to Germany. I'm an american workin over here on one of the Army installations (though not in the military) so I can drive American spec cars over here without any problems. I feel a bit lonely as I think I'm the only Genesis coupe owner in Germany (If there's anyone out there let me know!) . The car doesn't come out in Europe until March, and I haven't seen any Americans driving them here. They all drive Camaro and Mustang .

I'm really enjoying the car as it's incredibly unique over here and turns so many heads. I replaced the exterior emblems to the Genesis Wing Emblem. That confuses the hell out of people even more.

But yea... I'll be enjoying the attention while it lasts. I hear the base model will cost 30,000 Euros when it comes out over here (Europeans tax the shit out of their cars). Still thats equivalent to 42,000 dollars!!

Anyways I thought I'd share my experiences with anyone interested. I'm sorry if I bore you to death. I'm just really excited and looking forward to get to know everyone here at rwdcoupe.com

Welcome aboard, I know just how you feel. My Marabeau Blue 3.8 Track also turns heads. I too have the "wings", and when asked what kind of car it is, I say it's a Bentley.

Good luck from Hendersonville, North Carolina.

hehe, I think I saw some Tomato wings (or whatever) and they looked almost exactly like the Bentley.

    I live near Heidelberg.

I was doing a bit of reading on the german hyundai website, and they rate the 3.8 automatic as getting a faster 0-100kph (0-60mph) time than the 3.8 manual transmission (6.3 seconds vs. 6.4). Is this accurate, or do you think they're just trying to sell more automatics over here?

I would hate to see Jeremy Clarkson drive a GC... it's no where near european standards and would just fuel his hatred of Korean cars.

Although I am interested how it would fair on the top gear test track..

yea I was actually thinking about that too. I'm curious to see how they review the car. The Genesis Sedan would probably actually get a nice review, but only the Coupe is coming out in europe.

I don't think Jeremy Clarkson would even fit in a GC (anyone know his height?). I have a friend whos 6'6'', he stopped asking me for rides since i bought the GC.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

The GC deffinately has an issue with low roof height. I'm only about 6' 0" and I find that my head is nearly touching the roof. Also if you ever have like a cup or water bottle that you want to chug down you wont be able to tilt your head back without the cup hitting the roof :P

haha I'm 5'8" and so far so good. however... the back is a whole different story. I tried sitting in the back and my head fits nicely between the roof and the rear window. I could imagine hitting a small bump on the road while sitting back there. I like to look at back seats in a coupe as being there "just in case".

When I first got the car I made a trip down to Italy and split up the driving with my father. The passenger seat is very comfortable actually (when comparing it to other coupes). I've made the same trip with a 2007 BMW 335i Coupe and my butt would hurt if I didn't take regular breaks. I also love how when sitting in the genesis my feat rest flat in front of me. In the BMW, if you're the kind of person that likes to chillax with your feet extended, you'll notice your feet slant because of how the car is laid out. Even with the BMW electronics allowing you to adjust each cushion on the seats, I still find the Genesis to be more comfortable. I drove a solid 120mph while on the German autobahn for 30 minutes and damn that GC lets a lot of noise in ^^. It also lets a lot of noise out. with the basic speaker setup in the GC i can have the volume at 4 and people nearby can hear the song I'm playing (I drive around with the volume at 20. Obviously I don't care ). Buuuut.... the GC has a small compartment for your sun-glasses, and the BMW doesn't, so the GC is no doubt the better of the two.
