    Default STi to Genesis 2.0T?

I'm looking into getting into something newer, as I have an 04 Subaru STi with 62,000 on it. I've always liked the Genesis coupe since I saw it back in 08, and I've been eyeballing one more and more. But the question remains...has anyone gone from a quick car to a stock 2.0 Genesis? Do you regret it?

Another issue I've heard about is 5th gear syncros popping like no other. I'll definitely be looking around the forums first, but is there any validity to this? I'm also definitely looking at the higher modded 2.0's on here, as I would like the car to end up with roughly the same output as the STi, but what is the general consensus to break the 330+whp range?

I'm looking to learn a lot from the forum, and very possibly end up in a Gen coupe.

Hey. i see what you mean. since the gen is my first car, i did indeed did a turbo swap from the 210 to the 350 garrett turbo and there IS a difference. i havent herd of the 5th gear problem. the only problem i have with it is that when your going 80+ since there is no 6th, there is high rpm's. thats not good. and im sure you throw on an intake and an exhaust to go with that. but i wouldnt say i would regret it since i dont have anything to compair it to. and i haven't driven an sti before. Also if you get it tuned you should be set.

Huh?? no 6th??? GC has 6 gears... What car are you talking about? Ive driven a STI before. 2.0T is deffinately slower in comparison but otherthen that its a fair switch if you plan on a turbo swap.

He must have bought the discounted model that only came with 5 gears.
I think Hyundai only made 1 like that & this guy got it. Damn, how lucky is that!!!!!
The rest of us are now stuck with these 6 speed trannies. Sucks.

Haha i dunno bout no 5 gear manual but mine definately has 6 As for the 5th gear synchro thing ya it can be pretty bad if your not expecting it, i find that hard aggressive shifts into 5th or shifting at a low rpm into 5th causes the gears to mash and grind. There is definately a sweet spot. I'm probably going to bring it up at my next service. Ive had the car almost a year now and just crossed the 10k. mark.

As far as coming from another performance car like an Sti or EVO (or Z28 in my case ) of course there is a major loss in power. But i have to say i have fallen for the car. The platform is really fun, rear wheel with a lsd? Comon whats not to love. And if you get the tack pack (or rspec like me) the handling and brakes are killer. It may not have all the low-end-throw-your-head-back ooomph that a big block or any awd system will give you off the bat but once you get her wound up past 4500 the car is an absolute hoot in the curves and windies. Plus the aftermarket is coming along nicely so there are plenty of options. It may not ever do 0-60 like your scoobie but theres no reason why it couldnt drift circles around it

STi > GC any day IMO. I'd buy a new WRX STi if you can afford it.

I wanted to get a WRX instead of the GC but the year I was looking for a new car Subaru was only making them in the hatchback models. I like the hatch but wanted a sedan.
