    Default Hello everyone

First id like to introduce myself, my name is John and I currentally own a 2004 STi and a 2001 Dakota sport. although young I have owned quite a few cars (1991 Firebird Formula, 1987 IROC, a few VW's) and have considered trading in my STi for a Genesis Coupe.

I miss rwd and honestally never really fell in love with the STi. Its a great car, and very very fast, but not quite me. If you cant tell I have always loved F bodys, but they have gotten too expensive and fat for what im looking for.

I am also a parts salesman at Key Hyundai in Manchester CT, so cheep parts is always nice! Any info you guys have towards what would be best for me would be great, im aiming more towards the 3.8 as I have herd about rod problems with the 2.0T. Thanks guys!

Welcome! I can't really help you on what you're asking though if you have any questions about color I can tell you that the Mirabeau Blue 3.8 gets about 20 more HP than the others 8D

Thanks, yeah unfortunatally Hyundai really needs to get their act togeather on radios, we have seen elantras come in needing them to be replaced multiple times to many defects, just for them to go on back order

Nice user name for this particular forum. Lol. Welcome to it! I have a 2.0 and nothing really mechanically wrong with it. Only thing is my 2nd gear syncro acts up sometimes and is difficult letting me in gear. I'm in love with the car though, so I don't really cAre what problems it gets as long as they get fixed

    Welcome!

A huuuge 2.0T vs 3.8 discussion on another board seems to have amounted to the 2.0T and the 3.8 being able to achieve similar power levels with similar money invested, counting the difference in cost. It takes roughly $7000 to make 387 whp on the 2.0t (Lovefab turbo kit) and it will cost roughly $4000 to get a 3.8 to 300-330 whp with full bolt ons and a retune, perhaps cams too...

2.0T bottom ends have been shown to be safe to 387 by love fab, although Beyond Redline blew up a stock bottom end at like 340...

RMR ran a stock bottom V6 w/ a turbo around 500whp for a couple races but not for long before installing a stroker kit. Seoulful Racing said they've seen V6 pistons go out around 450.

Can't go wrong either way IMO.

Thanks man! Thinking about it, I am starting to sway back towards the 2.0T. I know it will be a ton slower than my my car out of the box, but even if i needed to do rods/pistons in it eventually im sure its still cheeper, if only they made the turbo cars sound like the V6! well see, I might be waiting until febuary to make any decisons.

Welcome aboard! My friend is a big LS1 fbody owner but he loves my Genesis Coupe as well. I've got the 3.8 and I must say the car is great! Powerful and rear wheel drive makes it a great fun car. Also working for Hyundai should give you some REALLY great price on buying a new Genesis Coupe. If you have any questions we're all here to help!

Also for the V6. Give it a few more months and the Rotrex Supercharger kit should be coming out. With the optional Piston upgrade we should see over 500hp for around $7,000 all in including tune I believe.
