Just wasn't paying attention. I was going to a concert across the bay in St. Pete and turned onto a 3 lane, one way road. I was looking for a parking garage and when I spotted one, I just turned from the center lane and got myself t-boned by a truck in my 02 Camaro. I wasn't aware that the road was one way (not being used to that city) and so thought that the lane I was turning across was oncoming traffic. Never even looked behind me. Fortunately there were no injuries.

No, I definitely didn't mean to do it but I'm still mad that I did and I just thank God that it was a truck and not, say, a motorcycle. If anything it made me think about what I'm doing behind the wheel. At the time I wasn't distracted by anything in the car but I had been, at other times, been getting more and more careless when it comes to things like sending texts. So ever since last May, I let the phone sit on the seat...there's no texts or emails so important that I can't look when I'm at either a light or where I'm going.

Geez...that sounds like a really bad one.
Thankfully you nor anyone else were hurt.
And good for you for changing your driving habits!!

So let me ask, did you experience any side effects from your accident?
LOL, I call it "trauma head"...
I know it doesn't make sense (and it sounds nuts) but I ask because I wasn't prepared for all the looks the GC gets.
So at first, when I caught someone staring at my car it took me a while not to automatically panic and to realize, duh, they're not staring because something's seriously wrong with the car.
They're staring because the Genesis Coupe is GOOD looking!

Yeah I get a lot of stares still ;)

And it wasn't a horrible accident...but I got hit in just the right spot to do some really serious damage to the Camaro's front suspension which was more to fix than the car was worth. Of course if I'd gotten hit a little further back I might not be telling the same story so I'll count my blessings and move on
