Seriously guys, thank you for all the information...You would think with all of the ideas that have been floated my way, I could get this darn thing to work - but, no luck.
To me it looks like the garage door controller and the homelink sync - but when I put the garage door on train - the light never does anything but blink rapidly for 30 seconds. Nothing ever trains or goes to a solid light like when i sync the door with a controller for the door.
Who knows....on to something else I suppose.

Clearly you need a new garage door opener!

yeah, tell me about it...although this one is only about 4 years old...must have it in for me. I'll revisit it soon when it cools off a bit and I can spend more time in the garage....

I know the directions don't say to do this but it worked for me.

    1) follow the diretions in the book start by clearing the homelink with the outer two opener buttons by holding for more then 20 but less then 30 seconds

    2) follow the directions for holding in both the homelink and garage door opener while they are close together

    3) here is what they don't tell you after doing this you have to push the learn button on the garage door reciever---it seems like you only have to do one way or the other---but you must do both for it to work

    4) follow the rest of the directions for the homelink once the learn button has been pushed

If you set everything up correctly before you start you should get it no problems. One more thing, after everything is set you still have to hold the button a few seconds for it to work---it is NOT instantanious.
