To start the car if your SmarKey battery has died you simply plug it into the SmarKey socket in the console. Hold your foot on the break and press and hold the ignition button for like 10-15 seconds until it starts up. Simple and it's in the manual.

Default Start Car w/ dead battery

I went to the dealer with this same question. They said that the best thing to do is to just keep an extra battery in the glove box. The manual starts in the keyholder, however, i wouldn't rely on that either i guess haa.

No reason to not rely on that...it will start just as reliably as doing it remotely.

This makes sense because these keys RFID tags which are normaly powered by an induction coil but Im sure that it normaly uses battery to power the RFID but if the battery is dead it can be placed in the holder which has an induction current to read it.

The proximity keys are NOT rechargeable. They use your standard CR2032 type battery though which makes it easy to replace!
