What's up Snake? You can certainly install a BOV (Blow Off Valve) on the car and maintain the warranty. There are a ton of big brand names that offer them but I've seen Superdrift, HKS, Tial and a few others for the Gen coupe already. Talk with RWDSnail (Tiffany) I think she's done some good research on them!

basically it's to prevent compressor surge and reduce engine wear. More importantly however is that it makes your car go "pshhhhh"

As far as I am aware it has no proformance increase... The car has a BoV stock... you cant have a turbo car with out out... but the stock BoV is a recirculating one which means it vents the excess pressure back out into your intake rather then out into the air... This a reason this is a good and reason why its bad. A recirc. will take the excess preasure and put it back into the intake line causing alittle bit faster boost build, but the air that is dumped is rather warm since a turbo creates alot of heat and the air is passing through it twice at this point. Also because the air is vented back into your intake piping it makes a quiter PSSSHHH sound which is why putting a cold air intake on a stock turbo car makes the PSSHHH lounder cuz your hearing it echo through the intake and out the filter...

You can have a turbo car without a blow off valve. It just very hard on gasoline engines to run without one. Diesel engines don't use any form of bypass valve (know as recirc valves or blow off valves), dump valve or wastegate because diesels don't use throttle bodies and the excess boost pressure is wasted through the cylinder in a scavenge cycle to purge excess exhaust gas.
Completely irrelevant information in regards to our vehicles.
