you'll see beside the usb port in your center console there is a 3.5mm jack, the dealer cable should break into both 3.5mm and USB.. when you plug just the white iPhone usb in, the 3.5mm jack isn't being used, but it needs to be.
Ok so apparently I need more sleep. I didn't know we where talking about using the iPhone in the car, just figured you meant a regular iPod cable to charge your iPhone on a computer.

yeah the dealer one uses both.. but isnt working
If you know anyone with an IPod, have them try it out. If it works, it's your phone.
If not, go back to the dealership and tell/show them, to get it fixed. It's most likely the cable.

Not really much help but...my factory cable works with the iphone just fine. When I plug it in, the phone says something about it not being a supported accessory but you just click no to it asking if you want it to be in airplane mode and then you're set. Sounds works, Bluetooth works, and gets the charge.
