    Question Flat-bottom steering wheel conversion?

When I get my GC I would really like to keep the OEM steering wheel for appearance, steering controls and safety reasons. But I would like to change out the steering grips to change the steering wheel from round to flat-bottomed. Anyone know of a company that makes those parts for that conversion?

I could be wrong, but what you're asking sounds impossible..

buy an aftermarket hub and buy a sparco wheel or something, bc no one is gonna make one, sorry to tell you but there isnt a real market for what your asking. but you would be voiding your warranty i believe if you got a sparco hub and steering wheel anyways.

dissassemble wheel, pull stitching off wheel, break off leather wrap, take hacksaw and cut bottom off wheel, weld round stock across gap, take wheel to car upholster and get new wrap made, reassemble wheel, take pics and post em up!

You all seem to be forgetting that he said he wanted to retain the stock controls, which are all located on the lower half of the wheel; this is why I said it was impossible.

Actually... Sathien is right. My mod won't even work because the the button bezel won't fit.

No market? If I'm asking obviously there's a market. I already seen a carbon fiber steering wheel kit for the stock hub already. I rented an audi R8 for $1500 n I fell in love with not only the handling but the feel of the steering wheel size. Not to mention the ease of entry with the flat bottom wheel. Every low slung sports car should have it. Just cuz you aren't interested in having one doesn't make it unmarketable. I would put in a sparco but don't wanna forego the airbag or steering controls.

As far as warranties go I'm not even worried about it.

i hope your not upset with me,

im just telling you straight, unless there is a mass market like there is for a cf hub piece its just not gonna happen. Maybe overtime there will be steering wheels like your wanting for the gc, but right now vendors wont spend there time to make one when there is such a small market. im not trying to be an ass and i never said i wouldn't be interested in one, now did i... lol
