Not really true. There's also a monthly fee that they started tacking on several months ago that raises the monthly rate to almost $15 a month. Not really worth it IMHO.How much does the XM Radio Service cost?
If you are a consumer and not a business establishment, the monthly service subscription fee is $12.95 for over 170 channels. There may also be a one-time activation fee (per radio) when activating your radio on your account. Other fees and taxes may apply.

I had Sirius in my Fusion and I used it for quite awhile because it was the only radio around for miles, and the car didn't have an Ipod jack. Got my Genesis and it had XM and I was like cool, then I found out all the channels were the same but I had to relearn all the channel numbers and that pissed me off. So I just didn't bother to renew it. They call about one every two months and we just say no and hang up.

Yes, indeed! I get a better selection on the local FM stations and even tho they blip out the F-bomb on some of the songs, so what, can just get it from itunes for the road ipod if i like it, and station surfing between commercials with the steering wheel controls is no biggie, and they are Free!
XM is like paying for water in a rainstorm......

Honestly this depends on location and drivers habits. Being that I live basically in the middle of nowhere and have one FM radio station worth a damn and that I tend to forget my IPOD in the car so it never gets updated. I like XM, but do not want to pay the 12 bucks a month. I'll hold out until they call me with a Decent Deal.

Yeah, mornings are pretty much chatty time on the FM, but if all ya hear on the XM is SOS, SOS, and lousy new music (for the most part) maybe its time to update your ipod...i got a couple thousand tunes on mine, just hit shuffle and hear some of the good old shit you forgot you had.....
