Yeah I just checked. I was at work and Hyundai's website doesn't work on that computer. I stand corrected on the color selection.

Thumbs down Sorry but... Vandergriff hyundai sux!

In Dallas Fort Worth, they try to rip the customer off hardcore. Especially when interested in a sports car.
Last spring, Vandergriff was selling the Gen $1,000 over MSRP. The hysterical part was they also had a base 08 elantra they couldn't sell from the last model year because it didn't have a radio(so they said).
The price of the 08 elantra was the MSRP of a well equppped 09 elantra.
What they did to remedy the problem was put a crappy aftermarket radio and call it an aftermarket upgrade. I tried to haggle the price on both an elantra and genesis coupe. They wouldn't come down on either. They wanted $33,000 for a $32,000 track and 14,500 for a 08 base elantra with no features and a crappy aftermarket stereo... lmao what a joke!
I asked them will they work on price on the cars since I'm buying 2. They said they will work with the elantra but not the genesis because it was too new. Lol so anyway. While the losers at vandergriff were making me play the waiting game on a deal n trying to wear me down. I pulled out my G1 and e mailed a sales rep over at freeman hyundai, explained my situation and he wrote back saying, give me 15 minutes and I will offer you a sweet deal. No ballparks. No games. Real figures. I replied kool and waited.
It took freeman hyundai mazda 30 min but they got back to me in time for me to be haggling again with the vandergriff rep.
Basically, vandergriff wasn't budging. I get a reply from freeman and it read something like this...
$28,486 for a 3.8 track/auto 26,636 for 3.8 grand touring. 15.988 for a hyundai elantra touring. WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN NUMBERS!! So now I ask the vandergriff guys to match these numbers.
Now they reverse it. We can take off a thousand on the gen but we can't sell a elantra touring less than 19k. Mind u the base with crappy radio was 14,500ish. The freeman touring was 16000 and vandergriff will sell the elantra grand touring only at 19k. So basically, at vandergriff. An elantra touring and genesis coupe track would have cost me $50,000 big ones before TT+L and fees.
At freeman, the exact same 2 cars would have been about $44634 not including TT+L.
A difference of well over $5000 clams. So my puerto rican butt rolls right up out of vandergriff. 2 hours later I'm home contemplating if I should take the freeman deal or just wait it out a little bit longer till the gen has a 1year record. My phone rings and its vandergriff. WoW after all the sheisting you would think they wouldn't call. And if they were going to call you would think they gonna really sweeten things up. NOPE! They call and say. Ok we can give you a genesis coupe grand touring for 28,500 which was 500 below msrp. And 17,900 for the 19,000 elantra touring. Which would add up to about 47k. I laughed and told him. "Dude, Freeman offered me a track model!! His response was am I sure it was a track? There's no way. I told him I can forward the e mail. He agrees so I forward it.
Ok he calls back again. He offeres me the broke azz 08 elantra with crappy awkward looking aftermarket stereo for 12,500 and a genesis coupe track for 30,000 grand. So now my total is $42,500 ok he beat the price total from freeman BUT.... freeman was still giving me a loaded elantra touring for 15,988 and a 3.8track for 28,486. (I still have that e mail as a reminder between good business and bad business). For $1,500 more I would have gotten 5k more of the elantra. Also i was getting 3k off on the genny vs only 1k.
I decided to hold off on buying the hyundais and held on to my nissans... This spring I will definately buy a sports car for sure. I'm stuck between a Gen and a Z. I'm leaning towards a Gen, but I know I will "NEVER" shop at vandergriff again. I didn't get the car last year but this year its most definately a go and freemans courtesy and lack of bullshit last year will earn them my dollars this year. Plus I got a no nonsense test drive of the genny from them last year even though I told them I will most likely buy next year instead. That's how real businessmen do.
VANDERGRIFF insulted my intelligence 3x in a row in one day. Also my advice to anyone buying a car. Haggle via email. Its so much easier!

I'm from NY. We don't play that crap up north.
I love texas but texas dealers are rip offs and texans needa wake up and don't let the dealers control them. What the dealers see is since there's no real public transportation system in most cities. They make u feel you are dependent on them for a vehicle and any price they throw is like some kind of gift. Make them more competitive for your dollar and you will pay invoice or below. Don't just take any deal, even if your credit is blemished. They use that against people a lot just to justify higher prices. Its garbage and its a big time scam. Corporations will be a lot more fair in there annual price augments if buyers pay closer to invoice than msrp. As consumers. We have more power over the economy if we just thought things through and not let dealers and companies treat us like pushovers. We don't need anymore vandergriff hyundai's in this world. Lifes to short and money is to hard to obtain for this sh1t. What dealers fail to see is that by selling for less and not scamming. Notonly do you make more money in the end but you keep loyal customers.
Longevity doesn't seem to matter anymore. Its all about how much can I make today without having any kind of ethics behind how u make money. Its a shame to see companies like this one.

When I start to shop around for one I'd like to get an R-spec. Wish it had more color selection though Kinda reminds me of the options for the Cobra R's.

If you dont mind, what is the name of the salesperson that worked with you?...Just because you had a bad experience with one salesperson and/or manager doesn't mean it is the same all across the board at our dealership, we constantly get into arguments between salespeople because of their tactics... there are the GOOD and there are the BAD salespeople, and it appears you may have had one of the bad ones. if it's one of the ones that no longer work with it us... I can see where you are coming from. You also have to understand some of the reasoning, dealerships are not a non-profit organization, you have to find a middle ground where there is a fair price that makes the salesperson and the customer happy. It can be almost insulting when a customer asks for something we cannot do. Also Freeman saw the opportunity of a 'for sure' car deal, that's why they were so easy to work with... everytime a customer comes in and are pissed off at another dealership, you don't want to piss them off further and seeing it is a car deal in the making, you just give them a really good discount and usually the person will be happy and buy right there and then. We've had customers pissed off at Freeman, Southwest, Allen Samuels, and Huffines in the same fashion you were... and then they buy the car from us because we did the same exact thing that Freeman did to you. It's just another one of those psychological things that happens. Sometimes you may not like the salesperson that is helping you... it may be they look like somebody you used to hate or they said something that struck a nerve with you, I'm just trying to say stuff like this happens... it's not that one dealership is better than another... it's just the specific situation that occured... I really hope you understand because I stand behind my dealership... we have stellar management and service...and I was the only salesperson at my dealership to have PERFECT CSI for 2009. Like I said... we have bad salespeople and good salespeople. I hope your perception has changed a little, maybe one day I can help you out to get the car you want, ...I've sold many forum members their coupe... I know several of the genesis coupe owners in the DFW area and they all know me. I've had people from all parts of Texas... that live nowhere close to the dealership buy a car from me because they like the experience, even people from out of state. Like I said, the planets just aligned the wrong way that day I suppose...

I apologize for the experience you had, hope you understand
