Hyundai has put the Genesis Coupe on an extreme weight-lifting regime. The result? A new look and more power. The current 3.8-liter V6 Genesis Coupe produces 306-horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Expect the next-generation car to carry the same 333-horsepower, 291 pound-feet of torque-producing mill as found in the 2012 Genesis Sedan. No word yet on improved power figures for the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot, which currently produces 210-horsepower and 223 pound-feet of torque.

We're sure more details on both updated powerplants will be emerging soon enough; we'll get to see both versions of the updated Genesis Coupes when Hyundai pulls off the wraps at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.Updated Hyundai Genesis Coupe to debut at 2012 Detroit Auto Show originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 09 Jun 2011 16:59:00 EST. well there ya go....something to look foward to...although if they kept the motor the same that would be a damn shame because the gdi 1.6 going into the veloster and Elantra Coupe will be making 208 hp and 195lbs of tq.

i leaning towards veloster turbo at the moment...due out early next year along with the coupe

Beefier V6 Genesis Coupe is sounding pretty sweet but am still hoping it gets a different tune and or intake manifold to bump it up to around 350hp. That would be a sweet buy. Can't wait to see the reworked body styling too.

The bump in horsepower should be a very nice update for 2012 but we need to figure out if the GDI motor will be difficult to mod and tune... it took long enough to adjust fuel settings on the non GDI stuff and I can only imagine it gets more difficult when you start talking tons of fuel pressure.

just need the right program. there are plenty of people out there that can tune them. the GDI motors will be on the 2013 due out in early 2nd quarter...kinda like the 03 tib was available in march of 02

aslong as its not like the new scion! (ft-86) the flat four is going to have 8 injectors...4 with direct injection and 4 port injection...what the hell are they thinking??
