Hyundai debuted the refreshed 2012 Genesis Sedan at this year's Chicago Auto Show, and in addition to revised styling and a brand new 5.0-liter V8, the Korean sedan's 3.8-liter V6 gets a slew of enhancements. By adding direct injection, the V6 now makes 333 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque - gains of 43 and 27, respectively, over the outgoing V6.
During the Chicago festivities, we asked Hyundai PR spokesperson Jim Trainor about how soon this updated V6 would be available in the Genesis Coupe. We were originally told that upgrades wouldn't be seen "for a little while," and this latest set of spy shots shows that styling revisions are on deck for the Genesis Coupe, perhaps even with the upgraded V6 underhood.
Expect the Coupe to get slightly reworked front and rear fascias, and we won't rule out the possibility of enhancements to the interior, as well. Mum's the word on when the updated two-door will bow, though we'd guess that the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year sounds about right.

Man! Would it kill them to give us a look at the new front end and grill? I hate playing the waiting game and November is a hell of a ways off.

The AWD isn't suppose to be coming until the redesign in 2013/2014, and it's suppose to be for Coupe and Sedan. If they manage an AWD 250+hp turbo.. I'll trade my current for that if they keep it under 3300lbs.

for you up there in the great north that would be worth it....but the coupe just isnt a awd car...i think its going to throw up the handling quite a bit.....especially for being hyundais first AWD car.

I think they should move the tranny to the trunk and aim for a 48/52 balance, more performance orientated balance with less tail action. Pull the engine farther behind the front struts to help with front end handling. The Sedan would benefit a lot from that kind of a layout too and I think it would make it the first split mounted FMR sedan in NA since Alfa left.

Beyond a facelift I just read that that new Genesis Coupe should be increasing its base horsepower to 274HP. I'm assuming 2.4 gdi turbo from Sonata?
While the Hyundai Veloster made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the company has quietly been testing a barely disguised Veloster with something a bit more sinister under the hood. The most likely explanation is that Hyundai is testing a more powerful Veloster, likely with a turbocharger.
A turbo Veloster would be the most logical choice, as its GDI engine would be well-paired with a turbo. Horsepower could be boosted well above the current 138-hp figure without a major penalty in fuel economy or curb weight. Since the standard Veloster weighs just under 2600 lbs, the associated turbo hardware would likely bring the car closer to 2700lbs.
Of course, Hyundai can’t make the Veloster too quick. Although the Genesis Coupe is expected to get a boost in power, with a base engine making 274 horsepower, the Veloster can’t step on the toes of the flagship sportscar, and we think Hyundai won’t show us the Veloster’s full potential for that reason alone.
