From reading this I think I know why people like the 3.8 better... I think the real conclusion here is that the 2.0T Automatic Tranny sucks. And that if you get a 2.0T M/T it will be equal if not better then the 3.8 lol...

As for the few questions about the clutch ill give my opinion on my test drive. First my history of clutchs: Subaru STI, NB Toyota MR2, Acura RSX. The first 2 have really aggressive clutchs specail the STI which is what I learned to drive stick on lol. They are very unforgiving if you let you foot flinch alittle the engine stalls. Now from my testdrive with the GC the clutch seems really nice. I say its got a good half inch of slip which gives you some good control. I couldnt figure out 2nd gear on my testdrive for some reason it bucked alittle everytime I shifted into it. As for the other gears they were in and out nice and smooth and I tested them at verying RPMs very easy to drive the car keeping it under 3k and also easy to redline. Also my first 10mins in the car were in traffic and I must say I didnt mind being on a clutch with traffic with this car. Very easy to slip it just a little and keep the car moving really slow.

Take the 7 spd auto from the 370z. Drop it in the 3.8... and you will probably have the greatst GT automatic in the history of afforadable GT's. The genesis coupe's 3480lbs (250lbs lighter thn G37) 370z's gearing, throttle response, rev limit n shift speed on hyundai's 3.8. WoW. Dare to dream.
IMO, I love paddleshift. Where the manual is a more traditional and fun driving form. Paddleshift allows for a more focused driving experience, not to mention a faster car.
Technology has to move forward though and hyundai must be godspeed in competing with todays super sporty DSG'S & DCT's. One thing I have to give nissan respect for is creating a 7 speed slushbox that rivals a manual in feel and sound when in sprt modes. I pray the auto tranny in the genesis coupe evolves. This car is wayyyyy too hot for an ordinary slushbox and it would be too limiting to only sell it in manual. I would pay an extra 2k to see a formidable tranny in here. And not that 8 spd going in the genesis. An 8 spd will only be good if u don't plan on self shifting.

If you want an automatic, I'd go with the Shift-Tronic from Audi. Faster shifting then the 370

I havn't driven the 2.0T but can't imagine it being any better than the 3.8...Sorry fellas, I'm not buyin it.....Literally...I got the 3.8 manual and never thought to even look at the 2.0 as it's that damn good. Yeah yeah yeah, you can mod the 2.0 but why void the warranty to equal what you can have out of the box for around the same money as your mods with the 3.8? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE turbo cars and Mitsubishi does shit right, but I'm tired of having to customize the shit outta my car to get it on a level that is exciting or even acceptable on a daily basis. The 3.8 ROCKS and has a BROAD powerband all the way to redline with no turbo lag. Love this car, so damn happy I got it....
Glad I got rid of that FUCKIN HON-DUH!
