    Default Deciding which trim get...

    Hey guys,
I am new this forum and have learned a lot. This is the best genesis coupe forum on the web. I was wondering if you guys can help me out.
I am very interested in a new 3.8 genesis coupe. I am deciding on which trim I should choose. I am stuck on getting the gran touring or the track trim. I am not much into racing and I go to school in the city. I really like that the grand touring trim has the back up sensors and has a softer suspension for areas like the city. However I really like those brembo brake systems and the 19 inch rims as well.
Which trim do you guys recommend? Which trim is more of a better value for someone like me?

Brembo brakes can always be added at a later date and the 19 inch rims as well although some have chose to go aftermarket. I work at a Hyundai Dealership in Florida and the Grand Touring model seems to be what sells the best. I'll say we had a Gray Track Stick shift on the lot and we had it about 3 months before it was finally dealer traded. The Grand Touring models last about 1 or 2 weeks if that. Also which interior do you like better? The Grand Touring comes with Brown Leather and the Track comes in Black. Take into consideration if your not taking this car to the Track or drifting, why spend the extra money on the Track? Also this may shorten your time to think about getting one or not but the Grand Touring and Track models (i think) will start coming standard with Navigation, if you dont want that get one while you can I heard over at GenCoupe.com the Gen Coupes with Navi have already landed and on dealer lots. Not sure if this helps or not but thats my 2 cents. Oh BTW welcome! Post pics of your Gen Coupe once you get one we love pictures.

I am thinking that the GT would suit you well. I have the 3.8 GT in Bathurst Black and the car is awesome! If you do not plan on racing or getting too many performance mods then the GT is certainly a good pick. Like Kenny said the 19" wheels will likely be replaced with aftermarkets and I'm sure in time we'll see some good brake upgrade kits if you decide to upgrade but the stock brakes are great.

    Good luck!

I love my grand touring. Keep in mind too that even though the suspension isn't tuned as stiff...its still a tight ride!

Thank you guys so much on being such a huge help choosing my next car. I am pretty much convinced on getting the grand touring trim this coming friday. If all goes well, I'm gonna drive home a red or black grand touring with brown leather in two days.
I really would like the navigation system, but don't want to wait around because I'll be going back to school this saturday. Would there be an option for me to add the navigation later on?
Also, is there a way I can see how the proximity key and the back up sensors work on the grand touring? I just want to get a better look at it and see how it works.
Thank you guys so much on all the help you've given me and I'll keep you guys posted.

Yes, according to some reports the nav can be added as an option down the line. Word is that the LSD might be able to be added as well.

I wish Hyundai would be more verbal about their options. Adding the LSD to the Grand Touring model down the line would be a great thing to have. The nav SHOULD be able to be added but it may be a bit more expensive than just getting it WITH the car.

While over at gencoupe.com the overwhelming majority, in fact all of two pages of a similar thread was in favor of the Track model. IIRC it’s ~$5k worth of upgrades for $2K MSRP.

    Aero wiper blades
    Aluminum pedals
    Rear Spolier ($$$)
19" alloy wheels and tires ($$$$)
    Brembo bracking system ($$$$)
    Limited-slip differential ($$$$)

There were post from women (mothers) that commuted with kids and a 60year old with a bad back and none had any concerns with the stiffer suspension. The consensus was that the only time it was noticeable was when you push the GS hard...because the suspension pushes back.

Though I haven test drove a GT yet, there was also a post that mention (and agreed to by many there) that the non-track version tends to have a light front end and vague steering when pushed past 75 MPH. Something that the Track version does not exhibit because of the lower stance and stiffer suspension.

Good input. I agree that the track package is an excellent value for its cost. Also might be better too when the Nav system comes out and becomes standard on the GT making it a bit more expensive too. If I recall the track will not feature navigation?
