Default Baller Cameras worthy of the Gen coupe...recommendations

So when i get a real job and after my car is looking the way I want it I plan on investing in a nice camera. What good cameras out there do u guys (with photo experience) recommend?
So far I've considered the Nikon...D60,80,90... and also the Canon Rebel SLR... throw in your recommendations here....and post pics of the pics they've taken i guess. I really want to take HDR pics, and basically background scenery with the Gen in the pic. This camera is going to be strictly for the car... and friend's cars.... lol.

No offense, but you can take really, really bad pictures with a really, really expensive camera, and you can take some really nice photos with a cheapo camera.

Having a nice camera doesn't mean you can take nice pictures...

    Here's a picture I took, the camera didn't do it- I did...

    my gear...

    Canon 450D/XSi

    Lenses
    Canon 70-200mm f/4L
    Canon 50mm f/1.8
    Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
    Canon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS
Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 DG Teleconverter
    Canon 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

    Flash
    Canon Speedlite 420EX
    Gary Fong Puffer Diffuser

    Support
    Opteka Monopod
    Smugmug Strap

    Storage and Memory
    Tamrac System 6 Shoulder Bag
    8GB Extreme III SDHC
    2x 4GB Extreme III SDHC

    Filters
    B+W MRC UV Filters - 52mm, 58mm
Hoya Pro SMC UV Filter - 67mm

    Other Accessories
    Opteka BG-E5 Grip
    Lenspen
    Canon RC1 Infrared Remote
    Canon RS60-E3 Shutter Release

I would say look at entry level SLRs at a local camera store, just see which one fits you best!!!

I prefer Pentax. The new K-7 is a very nice DSLR.

Paul couldn't be more right on. I might suggest a good point and click camera to start, assuming you have no photography experience. I like the Lumix cameras for the cash, $250 can get you a nice one at Costco or BestBuy.

They all have a huge set of features, so look for a good optical zoom lense, with the highest megapixel resolution you can afford.

Well right now I have a Cybershot. Cannon???? i think. lol. Its digital n does video and all, but theres not much room to do adjustments. I want some HIGH quality pics... and to do good HDR pics too. If u've seen the yellow gen on Gencoupe w/ HDR pics thats pretty much what I'm lookin to do. and reg. pics as well.

I figured I'd post some examples of what I'm looking to accomplish to make this a lil bit easier....

Those pics look pretty good but I'm not really a fan of HDR photos. You can take some good quality pics without pro gear. I think Paul gave us some pretty good info too!

Its all about you... The camera plays a bit into it, but if I told you your glass was more important you would agree.

Im a big fan of Nikon, here are a few pics with a Nikon D80. But again its up to the photographer not the camera. Nice cameras give you a better starting point.
