Default Hood problem. Do I need auto service?

There has been a lot of talk online about the hood not being aligned properly. Well, I have an even better story. I popped my hood one day and the whole thing slid forward from the passenger side. The bolts holding the hood had somehow come off!

Wow this seems like an auto insurance claim waiting to happen! If you have not modified your hood in any way and this happened then you should go to your nearest hyundai dealership to try and have them explain WTF happened. If it is an issue with strength or rigidity of the part then it may be cause for a recall. The dealership should be able to put your car in their auto service and hopefully make the car repair in relatively fast time. Just be careful as car insurance repairs can be a pain in the ass depending on who you have. The auto deductibles can hurt your wallet for sure.

    Best of luck.

Why would insurance even be brought into question?

If (I don't doubt what you say) it happened when opening your hood, you should have immediately driven to the nearest dealer and had them fix it.....period. Now it could be cause for a TSB or even a recall if this has happened to enough owners, but (IMO) not cause to run to your insurance company.

If your hood came undone while driving and flew up and cracked the windshield or went under the car and caused damage there wouldn't you need to file an insurance claim to get repairs? I agree go talk to your dealership about it but what I meant was that if it had caused damage he could've been looking at an insurance claim.

I did take it to the dealership and they put on temporary bolts while the proper Hyundai parts were on order. So they replaced the bolts but the hood wasn't aligned properly. They sent me to a body shop and they fixed it. So, the dealership came through but what bothers my is that Hyundai never contacted me to investigate. I have filed a complaint with TSB

Wow, great to see this thread. I figured it was just my car. I was able to get it aligned pretty decent after adjusting the rubber stops

I had the same problem with my hood being out of alignment. I took it to dealer and had it fixed. I"ll keep an eye on it anyhow...
