    Default Royal Purple?

    My car is getting it's oil changed on Friday, and I've been debating to put Royal Purple in.
    Has anyone here had any experience with it? Is it noticeably better than Mobil1 Synthetic or QuakerState Synthetic?

    It really depends on the application. One oil can be horrible in one type of engine, and great in another. RP is generally good stuff, but also an overpriced niche oil. How much of a price difference is there between Mobil and it? Quaker State is one of the poorer synthetics...

    Have you ever given the Penzoil's a try? The Penzoil Platinum is really good stuff on par or better than the M1, and the 5 quart jugs are on clearance for ~$19 or so at you local Walmart to make room for the new Penzoil Ultra. Incidentally, the Penzoil Ultra is some really good stuff and better than the RP, M1, or QS, and it's roughly $25 for a 5 quart jug.

    What sort of mileage/driving style does your GC encounter? How often do you change it?

    I do all my changes by the book, every few months or when the KM's reach the sticker on my window (which so far has never happened). It's my dd that gets a lot of start and stop but not generally a ton of KM's.

    @coupegirl
    your book says Shell? Mine says QuakerState.

    I couldn't justify 3 times the cost for Royal Purple, so I just went with Mobil1
