Default my friends 370z engine about to blow?

My friend has a 370z in blue sport package all the bells and whistles. His a/c wasn't working so he took it to the dealership and I was his ride. They call back claiming that the car has no oil. The thing is he has changed his oil atleast 4 times and o yea he has a little over 18k on it. His issue is that no check engine or oil light went off, so he's saying hey that's on you its a defect. He came back and they took the engine apart and said nope you gotta pay for a new engine $11,000. The thing is as well he didn't get his oil changed at the dealership he got it done at one of those oil/ car wash places around the area. He has no record of the oil changes since he paid in cash and somehow the place that did the oil got wiped out of records dur to a computer issue.
Personally I think he's screwed but my friend is one of those hard headed types and is saying i'm not paying a dime. Just was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions or thoughts?

With no history he's screwed. If he can play nice have him go to the oil change place and ask for his records. I'm sure they entered him into their system. Once he has it, he'll need a lawyer. OR He's screwed

Yeah... he's screwed with no records. And he can't sue the dealership, he'd have to sue the oil change place. Why is he taking a 370Z to a basement operation like that in the first place?

time for forged internals and a stroker kit? that'll cost a decent amount less than 11K and be a whole lot more fun ;)

No he's not screwed quite yet. A certain lot of 370z engines and a few G37 engines had a massive defect where it was eating excessive oil. The dealership knows this. 500 vehicles have reported so far that the engine is defective. I own a G I know. He will run into problems, but with research and some fighting he should be able to get something done. He can at least prove there's an engine defect in the model line which will give em some leverage. But he's stupid for not keeping receipts. He's gonna be in for one hell of a fight, but nissan has replaced more than enough engines to give him a fighting chance.

Don't come to a hyundai site about a nissan problem. You won't get a good answer here cuz they don't know. Tell your friend to go on a Z forum to get info on the defect.
