you have to pay import fees to bring it into Canada, you'll have to front American taxes and apply to get them reimbursed, but you'll get charged duty and Canadian taxes first because the product is readily available in Canada, NAFTA doesn't affect vehicles younger than 15 years I think. It'll have to be safety inspected and approved by ICBC, which from what I understand it'll fail because from what I've been told, American GC's don't have DTRL which are DOT required in Canada.
Double check with ICBC, and since you're looking at going to Toronto, check with an Ontario auto insurer to have your ass covered there too.
Cars cost more in Canada because of the tariffs applied to importing motor vehicles and to offset the cost of the unique building for a smaller market. Generally speaking, Canada buys less vehicles than the state of California per year, with a population of only 36million we are a tenth of the US market yet our vehicles are configured to meet our market requirements.
All Canadian GC's come with windshield wiper de-icer which heats where your wiper blades sit to unfreeze them from your windshield, no US spec GC's get that. All Canadian GC's come with heated side mirrors, only the 3.8 Track and GT get those in the US.
2.0 Premium in Canada comes with heated leather seats, no 2.0 gets heated seats in the US.
The only 2.0 in the US that gets fog lights is the Track, otherwise you have to buy a 3.8. Standard on all Canadian models.
Sure, we don't get the backup warning system, or the TPMS, but we get things more suited to our climate that frankly cost more.

Double check specs to know what you will and won't be getting by importing ANY vehicle from the US, because we don't always get the same thing they do. Hell, our Sony Playstations are even different! SCPH-70012 CB (for United States)
SCPH-70011 CB (for North America) *blink blink* where the hell do you think the US is??
Here's a link to a reference site, check it out, but get ahold of ICBC and know what they want from you too.
