Default Semi Trucks should have to drive on other roads

Thought I'd share a shitty story.

So today is the second day I've had the car out since November. Coming home today, pull onto a road and a tractor trailer coming my way is bouncing all over the place because he's flying down the road. So I nail the brakes and drive to the curb (I was only person going this way). Well as he comes by I see this black thing in the air heading right toward me. Come in and hits the windshield straight on and cracks it almost in half. I get out and not only that but the front end is chipped down to the metal....damn it.

I know we all have to share the road, but I"m really getting sick of these assholes throwing shit at cars because they have to go FLYING down the road....

So I am waiting for my insurance to find a place to order a windshield and calling my dealership to find some touchup paint.

Maybe it was better it was sitting in the garage...

Oh damn, that sucks man. Glad you're ok though...that's scary. I've almost been hit by semis twice who were driving like morons. I hate those things.

    Thanks guys.

It coming through the windshield is what I was afraid of. Usually shit coming at you, you just hear it and never quite see it. This one I saw coming several seconds in advance to it actually hitting. When it hit the car I found myself ducking down in the seat.

Well, new windshield tomorrow and paint coming in Friday. My baby should be good to go by the weekend.

Rain all rest of hte week and weekend, so hopefully by Monday/Tuesday the roads will be cleaned off.

that sucks...the worst are the re-treaded tires that come apart (gators) and you run them over...they can do some serious damage!

    glad its ok though

Ya, I've experienced the wonderful re-tread tires hitting my Accord on the PA turnpike. Out where I live and it meets the turnpike, its like a tight corridor. And a semi blew a tire right in front of me and if flapped right onto the ground, I had no where to go because of cement barriers, so it went under the car, ripped the nose of the car, grabbed the exhaust system and pulled the entire thing loose. Sucks...

Had the chance to look over more of the GC today and got some scratches going down the driver side of the car that I was able to polish out, but I got one that is down to the metal on the door. So touchup is going to be seeing that too.

I look at it this way, could have been a hell of a lot worse, so I'll just consider myself lucky and shrug my shoulders on the whole ordeal. Cause instead of just hitting the windshield, could have skipped up the hood and ruined the hood along with the windshield or shattered the windshield instead of just splitting it cleanly in half.

Thanks for the concern guys. That's why I like the community at this site, you guys/gals are just very kind people.

    Thanks again

I know how you feel and the best advise I can give you is to stay away from semi-trucks. There are a lot of truck drivers out there that can't drive and sometimes I wonder how they even got their CDL license.

If you see one coming, let them pass you and then put distance between you and them. Unfortunately, when we see one, we get this urge to get in front of them and that's when s%&^t happens.
