Awww! TSB FIX for the rest of us?????
Ok, when looking over the Gen again at the auto show, I fumbled with the paddle-shift and I noticed something hugely different from my test drive some months ago. Though the paddleshift looked exactly the same, the shifter operated better.
On my test drive I struggled to pull the shift when the salesguy told me. You have to tap the shift in from the bottom of the paddle for it to work. I found this operation frustrating. And I know I'm not crazy cuz in many forums, I have read the same complaint from owners and test drivers.
Now when I tapped the paddle, the WHOLE paddle moved. No matter where I pulled the paddle, it operated. Of course the car was off when I pulled it. I remember trying the paddles off and on in my test drive and it still pulled from the bottom.
Well I am really happy that hyundai fixed that because I really, really hated it. Though I would want a slightly improved quality material on the paddle shift. What had really bothered me was that "only pull from the bottom of the paddle." That was just way too much need for coordinating during aggressive driving and cornering".
+1 for hyundai not waiting a whole model year to address that.

I won't be a genesis coupe owner until august so I'm not sure about TSB's for the paddle but any of you guys that have the bottom operating paddles need to get on there cases. The original style paddle really hinders driving dexterity. You have cause for a recall. Lol.
im wondering if the paddles can be removed and maybe replaced with something of better quality aftermarket?
I know they sell paddle shift kits for manumatics without paddleshifters. So its just a matter of a company wanting to do the R&D for the replacement part. I discussed this on another thread before and shared a link from a company that makes aftermarket paddles.
Me myself I would like to see magnesium F1, carbon fiber and gunmetal options in paddles. U know what what would be even cooler? Little plus minus signs lit up in a coordinating color to your cars gauge lighting.![]()
get a M/T save those horses
that would look nice, i noticed my paddles need to be pressed from the bottom, but i use the stick if i use dynamic shift anyway, so idk if ill change it unless im gonna replace them with something that looks nicer than stock paddles.
living in hawaii, M/T is a nightmare if you get caught in the daily traffic to and from town![]()
What you lose in HP with the automatic. You lose more of with human error and improper shifting. Autos have become so good there's no human fix for manuals shifting slower. Even the nissan SRM manual hasn't fixed that. The auto gen ranges its 0-60 between 5.5 and 5.7, the manual 5.8 to 6.0. Auto quater is 14.0-14.1 manual 14.2-14.4
many will always still prefer the muscle-car nostalgia of a manual. Most die hard manual drivers will claim u are more connencted and it is more fun. I will agree it is slightly more fun.
But this is the 21st century and the racing auto just provides more accuracy. The only way I would say get a manual is if you are trying to achieve over 500RWHP while modding your car. Otherwise. The auto is just as good or even better.
