    Default anyone have paint problems?

yesterday i washed my gc because it had salt on it from the snow storm we just got over the weekend. after i washed it i noticed that a portion maybe 6x6 just over the drivers door handle had an issue. looks almost like an older car that sat in the sun too long and caused fading. finish is still nice and smooth but looks like complete shit. im taking it back to hyundai tonight after work to see what they say. ive only had the car for 1 week and need to bring it back for service already.

I believe there was a TSB for this. There is something they put on the paint to protect it during shipping to the states, and if not removed properly you can have a cloudy, dull area.

Let me see if I can find it...

It's on the HMA Service website...TSB # 07-99-001. Your dealer should be able to fix it...

    Eric,

I've noticed the exact same thing...but I forgot to ask about it at the dealer when I was there...while wet, looks like white-ish/fading...but when dry, looks fine. Like there is some sort of film on the handle. Let me know what they tell you.

well i went to hyundai because of some "good news" from matt in finance. got there had the service guy check my car out. he said hes never ran into this yet. i mentioned the tsb and he said he hasnt seen anything on this issue. he asked me to return one day when his detailer is there so he can see what he can do. if they cant do anything in house the service writer greg said he would take pictures and send them to hyundai to resolve the issue. but i did walk out happy even though the car still looks the same. matt in finance told me hyundai motor financial sent him an email saying that they were dropping my 4.9% intrest rate down to 3.9% and giving me lojack for free! so far im loving this deal i got on the car maybe ill run into some more good luck.

ill keep everyone posted on the paint cloudyness issue.

yeah, Matt's a good guy to deal with, as are Bob and Frank, the managers
and Vanessa, the salesperson...good luck with your paint problem, I haven't had one, but its good to hear they are taking it seriously....

I had that happen to the nose of my car after I washed it the first time. Took it to the dealership, they put some cleaner on it and it came right off. Took like 5 minutes and it was fixed.

Its a haze from the white wrap they put on the cars before shipping them. Its glue residue

well i noticed the problem started to get worse so i went back to the dealer today since i had off. the service guy showed his rep(who was at the dealer) the car and he told me that they would send the car to the body shop "moisture under the clear coat" is what he said it was. also said he would have the body shop try to heat it up to get the moisture out(it was 60 and sunny today i would think moisture would of came out at some point today). and if that didnt work they were going to have the door painted. but here is what it looks like now.

Get hyundai involved. If it is moisture under the clear coat, you need the car sanded down and repainted
