    Default Aftermarket Pricing!

Am I the only one who thinks these manufacturers, vendors, and dealers pricing is way too high?

I mean come on people, why are you paying these ridiculous prices?

From over priced body kits to exhaust systems priced almost double what they should be.

$1499 for a carbon hood ---- Get real.

$699 for an ECU modual. --- Nuts!

    $1500++++ for coilovers ----Insane!

Stop paying these stupid prices, and watch them come down fast!

The exhaust I put in my truck cost me $759, and I thought that was high.

New model car is only a weak marketing excuse for inflating the prices.

Lets see all pricing come down 40 - 60% into a realm that is justified.

So far only Dyno's CMD is priced effectively.

    Sound off everyone!!!!!

True. I totally agree most stuff is overpriced. But it's how the economy works. If you were a vendor and were one of the few selling a certain part for a very in demand and new to the market car, I'm sure U'd do the same. But wait a while when there are more parts released and more companies workig on the car. They will then be competing with each other and u'll see the prices drop. Personally I don't go back to any shop or manufacturer if they outright rip me off. It's already happened once unfortunately. But the parts I do plan on getting that are a little pricey are of high quality.

Toot Toot. (blowing my horn) ;)
Actually, I haven't put any real money into my GC except the front & rear medallions but I did think they were a bit expensive for what I got.
I will say that the few aftermarket prices I've paid for my motorcycle add-ons have been on the pricey side too.
I'm sure there are some R&D investments that have to be considered & recovered too, but I would like to see the prices of anything I purchase come down a bit. Who wouldn't!

R&D expense should be covered though volume not pricing. This is the same logic drug companies use when they charge Americans a premium for drup they sell around the world. " we have to recover R&D since we developed the drug in the US" Give me a break

I hope that sounds ok....Damn Rum Punch!

Dr.? Will you be in Palm Beach?

Don't get me started with the drug companies.
I have to deal with all those drug reps at work as it is.

I'll be there, but don't get sick or injured, I'm expensive!!!! Ha ha ha...

The one thing that you guys are overlooking is that the Hyundai market is extremely small. With Honda, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, etc there is an enormous market that can support large investments by vendors and manufacturers. As such, a statement like this do not apply:
R&D expense should be covered though volume not pricing.
That being said, I do agree that some parts are priced too high--such as a CF hood for $1499. (Who the heck sells something that ridiculous?) Also, there is a vendor--which seems popular around here btw--that has some pretty steep pricing. Why people continue to shop with them is beyond my understanding because the same items can be found for less.

On the other hand, pricing in the $1500 range for a quality set of coilovers is in no way a bad price. If you're comparing this to some generic Ebay brand that sells for $200, then just keep in mind that you're gonna get what you paid for. You can't compare brands like ARK, Tein, or Stance to D2 Racing, Ksport, and other low-end brands.

Of course, there's also the double-edged sword as well because if pricing becomes so low that profits are minimized to the point that the effort is not worth it anymore, a few seriously negative factors could come into play. First, vendors who offer excellent pricing may just give up because of all the sales-whoring. Second, manufacturers will go out of business, so the products you see available now will not all be available 6 months or a year down the road. The list goes on...

    Just some food for thought.

I'd like to know where you get your prices from Pmastron.

I see venders with CF hoods for like $430 and coilovers for $800.

yeah KAI is pretty overpriced, and some people will defend them saying that it's a guarentee that you're getting quality, but Import and KDM have some of the same stuff and it's much cheaper.
