for the $1400. and the damage to your car with driving. I bough a 1995 chev cav. for $800 and $200 in repairs for a winter beater. to keep my Genie in top shape...![]()
So far this year I've driven in two inches of snow ( with the crappy all seasons they give us) and just tonight I went out onto ice.
It handled the snow really well, but are all rwd's that twitchy on ice? This is my first rwd vehicle other than a truck so I don't really know what to expect. Will spending the 1400$ on a LSD help 1400$ worth or not make much improvement? My last car was AWD so I'm not even going to compare the two for low traction performance

Snoopy are you buying snow tires? I would highly recommend you do.
I got Dunlop Winter Sport M3's, they are mounted on my stock rims but have yet to put them on, no snow in Ontario yet.

I found there was no issues with snow, the ECS kept me pretty good and I did about 80kph safely. I got Michelin X-ice XI2's installed on Friday and to test them out I went for a drive right after it froze a nice thick layer of ice on the road yesterday. I realise that good winter tires will help but ice is ice and it's misserable to drive on. I'm just wondering if spending the money on a LSD will make it safer, not just for winter driving but over all.

RWD is definitely not a winter friendly car, but for decades thats all there was and people survived ok...Just have to be more gentle on the throttle and learn how to steer out of a skid, which I never had to do in a FWD car...
as for LSD, it may help some in deep snow, but on ice, nothing does, stay off the road or take your chances...
