    Default Big Brother Delete

Looking through the owner's manual for the first time since I got my Coupe,
I noticed buried in the fine print a notice that the Coupe has a Narc Box
which records everything you were doing, speed, braking time, etc. for 15 seconds before a serious accident...which of course, can be obtained by people who do not have your best interests at heart...I had thought only GM had this nefarious technology (which may be one reason they are bankrupt)
    but apparently not...

It is not that I regulary do or plan to be doing anything that would make this an immediate issue, but I hate the idea of some electronic spy monitoring what I do in what is the last bastion of freedom...riding in your car,
which is also why I refuse to get "EasyPass" or other Big Brother Devices that let the Man know where you are everytime you leave home....is there any way to turn this feature off without spending huge amounts of cash on a hack job that anyone is aware of?

yes its in the srs module...its only accessable AFTER a crash....and it will give you that information along with air bag deployment and seat belt tensioners.

onstar has a GPS unit in all of their onstar equipt vehicle and can look at and control whatever they like....hence why/how they can unlock your doors, or give you point to point directions. or shut your car down if you are being chased by the POPO

and i agree with not getting sunpass....i have had friends in jersey that have actually gotten speeding tickets in the mail because they got from point a to point b in X amount of time...and obviously the average is above the top 1 percent...bullshit!

they can't trace you with it, they can only read sensor data. I'm not bothered by all that shit cause we don't use it here, well cept the OnStar but GM is failing fast in Canada so it won't be long.
If you have your cell phone with you it acts as a GPS too so it can find Cell towers and triangulate rough locations for A911, better wrap that in tinfoil too.

With the amount of time I spend on the Turnpike I need Sunpass. It saves me serious money, and the state already lost the fight to use it as a speedometer, so you're safe, and can save some $$$.

I estimate I saved over $200 last year using that little box

You can shut the gps function off on most cell phones.

Thats good to hear, I know some states are still using the toll booths for issuing tickets.

i dont use the turnpike at all...and well a couple of trips to orlando and the 25 cents saved it not worth the hassle....although the long lines at the tollbooth is a PITA but it also gives me a reason to do a 0-80 run

I use a toll road daily on my commute to work and its a sunpass only road. It saves me 30 - 40 minutes sitting in traffic.
