now why couldn't all the mods you have done come stock on the gen coupe. seriously though great job you did on your coupe
Yesterday afternoon I started a little project on using vinyl to smoke my tail lights. Keep in mind I've never done this type of project before and I honestly thought I would fail completely. The hardest part about our Genesis Coupes is that the tail lights are really long and have a really big turn around the corner. I basically cut off like an inch or two beyond each end of the light to allow for some extra space while trying to fit and smooth everything out. I am no expert but I think that they turned out okay. Difficulty and time wise this installation was about a 7/10 for me. I feel more confident now that I've done two lights and I think the next attempt could go much quicker and easier. Here's just a couple of photos of the completed work. Notice there are still some small air bubbles in there but I'm going to give it a few days in the sun to see if they come out.

That looks great. If you can perfect this technique I think this would be the way to go.
Would you be soooooo kind to upload a youtube video on how to do that?!?!
Pretty please. or even instructions on how to?
Looks pretty good. I'm pondering whether I should do the same but with a red overlay.
By the way, what size sheet did you use and where did you buy it?
The Genesis Coupe tail lights are really awkward in size. I got about an 8 foot roll from ebay (look up like smoke tail light vinyl) or something like that. After completing both of the tail lights I only have about 2-3 feet left. I am certainly not 100% satisfied with my handy work as it's something I've never done before. If I can perfect the skill I may offer to do this locally for people for a small charge. Also I may try to come up with my own pre-cut tint solution which I could sell and make the installation even easier for someone who has never done it before. If I get a chance I'll put up some more stuff on youtube. Thanks guys.

I've seen red overlays sold on Ebay in sheets that are 24X12. From what you are saying that would not be adequate size huh.
The roll I got was something like 96x12. Like I said though I still had about 3 feet or so left over. These tail lights are really big. Here's a short video of me during the install process and the difference in light quality with and without the smoked vinyl.
