I wonder why only the dark chrome are affected. I'd be pissed if I bought those 24k gold ones and this happened.

Well I'd guess what ever they use to make that dark chrome color is just different than the others.

if you do that.. you'll most likely clear coat part of your car...
if you haven't had any issues, you might be a lucky one and have no problems what-so-ever. Clear coating would just be like buying insurance, it's really what it's worth to you.

Yeah that's a tough call. I'd do it though because once you do it, you won't have to worry (hopefully). Keep in mind that not ALL of them have this problem and I would guess that a majority don't. Its just, a majority of them that have a problem seem to have this particular issue.

yeah i have this problem too unfortunately. i used everything from soap and hard rubbing with a microfiber towel to a strong spray on wax that i have. i got some of it off but i noticed the emblem is also discoloring. it used to be dark gray chrome but now its like a bronze-ish color. lol. im just going to get some duplicolor and black matte them

what would you use? i just figured that the spots may being caused by the sunlight since the chrome ones which reflect more sunlight werent having the same problem... arent they supposed to be chrome?!?! since when does chrome get bronze spots... wtf.

I'd use either TurtleWax or Muguires.. they don't have weird chemicals in them. Personally, I love BlackMagic but it's next to impossible to get in Central Canada, so I've been sticking with TurtleWax. I've never heard of Chrome going Bronze before.. like ever... thats really weird.. but if you have the dark chrome ones then what might actually be going bronze is the darkening agent in the chrome.
Can you take them back or is that not an option?
