Default How to Remove US grill and Install KDM Grill

    Hey all,

I just wanted to post up this little video I shot the other day while removing my stock US grill and installing the new KDM M&S Type 1 Grill (with KDM radiator cover). Using this method I was able to get the grill off without having to remove the entire front bumper. Please be careful if you do it the way I did as I'd hate for anyone to crack their bumper! Sorry if the video seems rushed, we were right about to get a major downpour and I was trying to hurry! :D

    How-To

    Installed

    Thanks and enjoy!

Thanks for posting this! :D Now that I have actually seen how to get that grill off I'll try to attempt taking it off one more time. Thing that sucks for me is that even if I get it off and replace the logo, it's going to be nearly impossible to get that thing back on. I thought Hyundai was advertising this car as a modder's dream?! Why would they change the grill to such a difficult removal?

Your grill looks great. I am glad you got that version of the grill. It looks cool while the other M&S one looks kind of stupid.

I saw that hot blue 2 wheeler in your garage. Is that what you ride when your wife has the car? :D

Your video is very informative. I may get the chrome grill, at which time I'll view this again.

    Thanks

PS. Do you know if it is possible to change out the yellow side reflector in the headlights with a white one like you see in so many pictures? If I go with the chrome grill on a N. Grey car, the white side reflector would be more color co-ordinated. I think I read somewhere though that a yellow side reflector is reqired by law. Is that right?

    Hey Prof,

    Thanks for the comments! haha

As for the side markers in the headlamps on the coupe. There is a nice replacement from KoreanAutoImports.com which is an LED replacement that has dual white/amber lighting. They look colorless or illuminate bright white while parked but they blink amber when using your turn signals to keep a legal look.

The only down side is that you will have to have your headligh housing opened up and the electrical work done on them.

I kind of want some myself!

Yea, a lot of people want them and I have a thread on it in the Gencoupe forum.

I do not want to steer away the subject of this thread. One thing I am wondering about is the bottom screws or clips on the stock grill. You talke about the magical screw driver work you did for the top screws, after they were out, was the rest easy, or did you have a hassel with the bottom ones also? Did Did you use anything special on the clips so as not to break them?
Did you forget to mention anything?

    Thanks

The customizer that replaces the original grille with an upper and lower E&G grille at my local dealer doesn't take the grille off at all. I've seen him do it from a distance and all he did was pull the bumper forward slightly.

I believe CMcCane has a video showing the process somewhere including how to deal with the tabs.
