Man, trying to figure that out now.
Just had some dental work done yesterday afternoon, so I need to see if a trip will fit in the ole budget.
(I’ve got relatives in the Austin area, so that helps.)
Anyway, I’ll be sure to post up once I have a better idea if I can swing it or not.

*MAJOR UPDATE*

We are working with Harris Hill Road Track to give us a cheap one hour slot on Sunday to do some basic track time for everyone interested. The tentative plan is to meet up at the track just a bit south of Austin in San Marcos on Sunday at 12:30 pm. There will be a bit brief 20 minute driver meeting to orientate everyone. After that, everyone will proceed with a lead and follow lap with instructors before going on to have a 3 person staggered hot laps for all. It would end about 2 PM ish. Per Harris Hills Track, the cost of the brief event would be $500 plus tax for however many people we bring. So, for example, if we have 20 people, that would mean each person would pay about $25 ish dollars. The more people we have, the cheaper it is, but the track time will have to be dived out a bit more. The opposite is true with more track time, but slightly higher amount if there is less people.

While this is not intended to be a true track day, Harris Hills is interested in providing new people some basic track experience to see how they like it.

Noob question: What level of track experience do you need to have to participate in the Harris Hill day? I know you said "basic" more than once in your post, but I have ZERO track time under my belt.
And, if need be, feel free to tell me I’m barking up the wrong tree by asking you this question.
I can always contact Harris Hill directly with questions if I sort out that I can make the event.

No worries at all. You DO NOT need any track experience for Harris Hills. Heck, I don't even have any true track experience. Essentially, we will all meet and get a quick 20 min. overview drivers meeting, then go in small groups with instructors playing "follow the leader" for a few laps to adjust to the track and then we get a few laps 3 at a time on the track in a staggered setup to do hot lap times (no racing or passing) from what I understand. I am working on asking if any safety gear is required and if they provide any. My assumption would be gloves and a helmet, but since they are a drivers training school along with being a track, I figured they have rental equipment available. Again, trying to get this clarified and will repost.
