Default Genesis Coupe V6 Independant Throttle Bodies

After Rhys Millen showed off the RM460 at this year's SEMA event the engine work they did on the Tau V8 had me wondering if the 3.8L V6 would see similar gains with an independant throttle body setup.

This is the application that Rhys Millen Racing used on their coupe.

Does anyone have any knowledge on independant throttle bodies and their application? I have heard from many people who have done ITB's on the Nissan VQ engine that the gains are not huge and that it really makes the car LOUD.

    What do you guys think?

This is how they are done on the VQ motor. They would probably cost like $2,000-$3,000 and not gain nearly as much performance for the money if used elsewhere such as intake, exhaust, tune, etc...

I know in the Honda world, ITB's are kind of the final step to squeeze a few last hp out... Not sure how it relates to the GC though. Definitely would look pretty sweet, not sure how streetable it would be though unless you had 6 inividual air filters.

With ITB's, you're likely to lose some low end torque, but pick up a fair bit in the higher RPM's.

This can all be tuned with various length and size runners, and a different radius to the horn of the velociity stack, but it's a lot of trial and error to find the right setup, and then you'll still see different results with other modifications, such as cams and exhaust.

I don't know what the inside of the V6 intake manifold looks like, but maybe someone will offer something like the Cosworth manifold for the VQ motor that has integrated velocity stacks.
