Default How long should I take it easy until let loose?

I just got my Mirabeau Blue 3.8 GT with navi two days ago. I just hit 100 on my odometer from my way back home from work. I was wondering, how long should I wait until I can really start test what this car can do? I know I shouldn't be doing it until the engines been broken into for a while...but how long?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks Kenny. Right now, I don't have enough posts to put up pictures or links yet. However, soon as I hit 15 I'll take thorough pictures of my car both in and out and post them. For right now I have a couple pictures posted on my album in my profile page. Thanks again.

I'd say 700 miles should be fine. Honestly there are a lot of people who have pushed their cars right off the lot and I'm sure there arent any issues. You should be able to hit the mileage in a few weeks im sure.

I read this somewhere and it's pretty good advice and even the guy at my dealerships laughed and said it's true:

"if you break her in soft, it'll be the only way she likes it; but if you break her in hard she'll be screaming for you to give her more"...it works for cars too LMAO

Just drive it like you stole it and worry about the consequences later. Can’t be any worst than adding a big turbo.

Default Well, my neighbor told me this

Just like the other post. I grew up next to a highway patroman, and he said that you break them in like you want them to run. He drove his new car home from the dealership or station and let it warm up and then out to about 140 mph. Hell, it's under warranty, run the thing. :w00t::w00t::w00t:

Hey all. So with the Genesis, because of the overdrive it has, there is no problem with letting loose. What you really don't want to do is keep the RPM constant, try to vary it for the first 1000 miles. That means, don't use cruise control, at all, for the first 1000 miles.

Secondly, as with any new car, change your oil after the first 1000 miles. Since the engine breakin causes lots of metal particles to enter the oil.

Methinks the GC manual states 600 miles, try to keep it below 4k and not to use the cruise. Unless of course, there's an emergency (read: overwhelming desire to jump on). I'll try to find the page and whatnot.

two tanks should be fine...then start filling it up with mobil one syth. this is what i did with my elantra and i'm running 157k strong. to say i'm light on the pedal would be a gross underestimate.

like others said you have a warranty for a reason...and iirc these motors (all of them i think) are run at the factory to test for consistency
