Default I wonder what this car COULD do?

From what I have read, the 149mph top speed is due to a fuel shut off limiter.
With only a magnaflow catback and a K&N drop in, I rolled past 140 the other day with the car still pulling. Just curious as to what this thing might be able to do without limiter before pure H.P ran out of steam.
(no preaching, it was under controlled circumstances)

I've been wondering this too.. I've gotten to 152mph and still no cut out and she was willing to keep going I just got uneasy.
Hyundai claims they are limited but I don't think they all are.

    Hey snoop wat up?...

Man my guess is. And this is just a theoretical analysis. You have the 3.8 getting 312hp on premium and weighs 3489lbs compared to 330hp on 3700lbs on a G37. Hyundai has totally locked this car up on many angles and this motor has to have way more everything than claimed. The g37 tops out at 156mph. I know it can probably pull to 180mph with a 8100rpm ecu tune and all restrictions removed. That being said. If you took off every restriction on the gen and pushed this car to 7200-7500rpm rev limit. Make all the right tranny upgrades this car definately needs. But still leaving all other parts stock. I honestly think you can see 190mph easy. Not including engine mods, just removing all ecu and tranny restrictions.

190? really? Supercar territory? Not a chance 165 tops. Too much drag above that, and no where near the HP to go higher. Just look at the cars that can do 190. They have 500+ HP and better aerodynamics

150+mph is plenty fast. A lot faster than most cars out there. I was wondering myself what it can do. I haven't reached that speed, but mine has seen triple digets.

They are 500+ hp but the cars themselves are also between 4000 and 5000 lbs.
When I say 190 I mean a completely unrestricted engine. No emissions restrictions. Rpms at maximum before its at overheat. The appropiate ecu timing. So many factors go into making these cars this slow. The genesis coupe is a couple points away from being ULEV certified. That means this car is restricted to ridiculous levels. As far as aerodynamics goes. A high qualty bodykit can resolve that. But you may be right. I won't argue your opinion either. My opinion is speculation based on unorthodox variables.

    Drag Coefficient
    370z - .30
    RX-8 - .30
    G37 - .29-.32
    GC - .32

    Supercars:
    Murcielago LP640 - .33
    Ferrari Enzo - .36
    Bugatti Veyron - .41 - .36

It's funny really.. that 150,000$ car.. has worse aerodynamics than a 30,000$ car... a 1,500,000$ car.. has even worse aerodynamics.. huh..
But.. back in reality.. those cars have that high of a drag inorder to stay planted on the ground, because it helps counter lift.

    @adrenalin
I have the 2.0T, and she still wanted to go faster than 150 and I had more room in the RPM's too.

Hyundai actually over states the HP, they measure at the flywheel and at sea level.
the 2.0T's on average about 160-170 rwhp
the 3.8's on average about 270-285 rwhp

but those averages I don't know if they are based on auto's or not, the altitude or any other details like that.

the fact remains.. as interesting it is for what the vehicles potential is, it was designed to go sideways not in a straight line.. why do you think Hyundai didn't bother pumping out more ponies than they did? Cause it's all in the torque.
