    Hi Crooked H,

Can you help me understand how the 43 HP increase takes, now that I type this I think I get your drift. Is it that an auto loses between 10% and 20% of "ENGINE" HP (EHP) by the time it hit's the "WHEELS" (WHP) which is what is measured by 90% of the Dyno Jet machines out there as you strap the car in and run it, no pulling motors....

So you take the "percentage increase of 243 to 286 WHP of 17.7 % and times that figure by an assumed 306 stock? Soooo, 306 x 1.177 = 360. I think I agree with you !!

Thanks for pointing that out. You know your stuff... I'm learning... Thanks to people like you...

    Later,

    Doug

OK... So I did a little more research and found this explanation of Engine Horse Power (EHP) and Wheel Horese Power (WHP). As with most things here, it's not an exact science and numbers will vary for varying reason.

Obviously, another factor to consider in this discussion is how accurately the manufacturers rate their own engines. It's hard to believe that the Corvette and Neon could lose 17 and 22 percent of their engine's horsepower in just frictional losses. Most experts agree that a 10 to 15 percent loss is normal. This does not necessarily mean that the manufacturers are lying. The additional drop could come from a number of causes including variations in engine performance and dynamometer readings. It could also be that the manufacturers are dealing with an expertly tuned engine's running under controlled conditions in a laboratory rather than a mass-produced engine that was put together on an assembly line and sold at a dealer's lot.

Whatever the cause, it's important to remember that there will be a loss of horsepower between the engine and the rear wheels. If you really want to know how powerful a vehicle is, test drive it. If you're looking for an accurate horsepower figure, a dynamometer run is the only way to know for sure.

But the one thing I know is my car is MUCH MORE POWERFUL, TORQUEY and FASTER....Something about the Infiniti G35's and G37's that they find me and want to play (or is it vice versa???) Either way, soundly beat another one yesterday afternoon (Route 287 North, near NJ TPKE). This guy was aggressive. He took off first, Once it was clear I was going to drive through him, I quickly moved to the right as to not lose momentum. I looked over and smiled as I passed him (He wasn't looking, but his girlfriend was...she looked scared - LOL...)... Now back to the race after I passed him I got in front of him and we continued until I had to "pulse brake" as I was quickly coming up on traffic... He went through the traffic like a nut job. I don't do that. People get too scared and you never know if they see you coming and will pull an erratic move. He was a young guy/driver and, IMHO, needs to learn how to race/drive fast on a highway... with respect for the other drivers on the road. they don't want to be involved in your race, and I don't blame them...

Arvin is correct. One of the guys name is Billy, I believe. I would suggest you mention Doug Zark. They should remember me. They did the work in Feb 2010. FYI, they will not guarantee the results I achieved. All cars are different, but for a little over $1,000, the improvement in performance, sound, gas mileage and now soundly beating or being competitive with older Corvettes, Infiniti G37S (beat these $44k Infinitis easily now...), Mustangs, Chargers etc... It's kinda cool... It's a friggin RACE CAR !! And it's a Hyundai...

I got the 3.8 Reflash from Arvin as well and the car feels great now. You have to be careful though make sure to run premium fuel and don't let your tank get too low. I let the wife drive it till near empty and she got some "Lean" codes and a CEL. Had to clear them out today with the scan tool and top off the tank.
