Arrow Same Engine as new Lancer Ralliart/Evo X??

Hey can some one tell me if its true that the engine on the genesis 2.0T is the same as the one found on the new turbocharged Ralliart and the new Evo X? A friend claimed that the 2.0T found on the Gen coupe is a downgraaded ver of the EvoX and the same found on the new Ralliart. I checked and the ralliart has the same HP than the Gen coupe

    is this true?!

It's true, it is a de-tuned version though, if I can find this pic, it will show how it isn't as tuned. But this is why evo x tuning shops are picking up their own gens bc of the cheapness and the fact that the engine is a de-tuned version. So I'm guessing the evox after-market parts will be made for the gen coupe soon

from what I'm to understand it's mostly materials and manufacturing process that was changed, like steel/iron to aluminum and whether it was forged or cast

casting is when the metal is poured into a mold to get the desired shape, forging is when the metal is pressed into shape. So for our discussion on engine blocks what happens is they make a mold out of a hardend sand product like a silica/ceramic mixture then pour the metal into it, once hardened they crack the mold off and clean the block. Forging is a bit more complex because there are many styles of forging that could be used. One is similar to casting but instead of using pre-liquified metal they use small beads of it then heat it in the mold and then pressurize the metal in the mold, another is they just get a rather large piece of metal and have two mold on either end of a press and then using heat and pressure, they stamp it into shape.

From what I understand they are made in the same factory but not the same engine, Mitsubishi has a 4 bolt bottom ours is a 2 bolt.

Chrysler just bought out Hyundai and Mitsubishi and it's kind of up in the air as to what is going to happen production wise.

The GC motor is an "open deck" design too but I don't know what that means. The Lancer is not.

I was a bit confused by what you posted Red, I'm sure what you meant to say that Chrysler bought out Mitsubishi's and Hyundai's interest in GEMA so there will no longer be a "World" engine. The plant in michigan was part of that deal but the engine designs themselves were not, all it means is that Hyundai and Mitsu have to build their engines elsewhere. BTW Balento, a hollow aluminum block would fail very quickly, it would be too weak.

the only way that the TCI motor is even close to the 4b11 is the exterior look of it!!

    everything is quite different.

there is only about a 10 percent that is the same....

both block and head are alum. rods, bearings, crank, and pistons are all different. different turbo, different manifolds (mitsu will NOT bolt to the theta...bushur proved this) different flywheel and clutch, different heads internally with hyundai using their CVVT and mitsu using the mivec system.

    please....they are not the same!

correct me if i am wrong but casting tends to be stronger and better right? there for it will have a higher tolerance to high boost
