Forged is stronger and better but more expensive in general. It all comes down to what metals/alloys are used though. A cheaply made forged rod is no better than a top of the line cast rod. Money no option and best of everything, a forged rod will win every time though.
from what I understand Hyundai designed the 4b11t, mitsu created the top deck using the MiVEC system. Hyundai and Chrysler we're left to create their own top decks. Hyundai supposidly (from an unreliable source) reverse engineered a Mercedes CVT system to make thiers.
Hyundai purposly used an aluminium block, it's lighter, more affordable and dissipates heat quicker. Also, it warms up faster. At 3300lbs the GC was already fat, adding another 150 for cast iron on the front end would have messed up their tail happy 55/45 split (52/48 2.0T)
And yeah.. apparently Chrysler bought out Hyundai's and Mitsu's shares but production will continue till 2012 and that is apparently when Hyundai might be coming out with their new 3rd-gen I4 which based on Hyundai's current trends will be GDI, twin-scroll turbo. Since the 2012/2013 Genesis Sedan's platform is in the rumor mill to be getting an overhaul to support AWD and the GC is also built on that platform we might be looking at a 2013 TS2.4 AWD GC.
The original design was severely beefed up for the EVO because it needed to be durable for Rally and handle extreme temperatures and pressures. Hyundai offers a 10year warranty on the GC in the US (221hp with premium jungle juice), Mitsu only offers a 5year for their EVO 291bhp, the UK gets an EVO 354bhp with a 3year warranty.. more HP, less Warranty. The initial design of the engine block was handled by Hyundai. It features siamesed bores, meaning that there is no coolant flow between cylinders. The aluminum block has cast iron cylinder liners, and different liners can be fitted to alter the engine's bore.
I happen to know that you can get a 400+bhp EVO in the UK from factory.. but it only gets a 12 month warranty.

snoopy thats what i'm waiting for...although i think its going to be the 2.0t they currently have in the sonata.

I dunno about that since the current TS2.0T in the Sonata is still a GEMA (World Engine, 4b11t, Theta, Theta II) engine.. it's just finished the requirements Hyundai set out to fully classify it as a Theta II, the GC currently uses a combo and specialized specs from both the Theta and Theta II blocks, while missing the key component to be Theta II, Direct Injection. Since GEMA engines are suppose to be ceased in 2012 with only a total of 2 million units produced I think that's going to leave Hyundai and Mitsubishi in a lurch for their I4's. Chrysler/Dodge is fine since they bought the production plants and will be retooling them for the Fiat engines which are basically GEMA's with Fiat top decks.

so this is why i keep seeing pics and post of people putting shiploads of evo parts on the gen.
well.. some parts are interchangeable with correct bearings and stuff.. but as far as I know nothing is plug and play. Pistons might be because both are 2.0's.. but head design is different so valve tollerances might be different too.
