    Smile Differential Swap!

    Hi guys, that's simply a small hint that will give you a lot of fun AND really not that expansive!

    I upgrade the stock-open diffenretial on my Premium GenCoupe for the Torsen Unit in the Track package.... OMG! the car accelerate a lot faster, traction control dont even engage anymore (im driving on snow everyday) and during hard acceleration WOW! Drifting never been that easy!

    Edit: with the same warranty (8 years 160 000km) that my car have (Hyundai Part) but now with a sweet ass LSD!)

    the dealership, they've done it for free when i told them im gonna return the car if they dont (they told me it was already LSD even if its a Premium)

    Only the 2.0T GT, and all 3.8 models.

    The 2.0T base and premium have regular open diffs.

    Default 2.0T Base transmission

    Hi Guys,
    does anyone know if I can replace my 5 speed auto tranny with the 6 speed auto version that comes with the Premium version. I seem to be getting very bad gas mileage.

    Swapping transmissions is pretty major work but I'd imagine it IS possible. You would probably have to spend a fortune though or find a wrecked one to salvage parts from.

    just need the tranny and the ecu i would imagine...but i'm sure there is more too it then just that.

    yeah a lot more. Hyundai was pretty clever with the ZF, integrating it specifically with things like TCS and the ECU directly to pre-emptively time the TCU. Their own 5-speed isn't half the beast the ZF is.
    If you look up the ZF on HMA in the DTC section you'll see it's tied into things like steering angle and all sorts of things. The ZF also monitors torque input. The A5SR1 doesn't have half the integrated systems.

    It might be possible.. but it would be a sh*t load of work and tinkering. You'd also have to find a way to get a 3.8's ECU to work on a 2.0T since those are different too.
    If you want better gas mileage look at changing your final drive ratio, the 2010 5-speed had a really high one for some reason, it got dropped in 2011 for the same as the manuals.
