Thread: Open Source ECU Project

Well for those of you over here on this island who aren't on the other island we call home on the web, i figured i would post up and let you know about Project NitroGen which is the project i am now working on which is to create an open source ECU option for the 2.0T and V6.

We are getting really close to having some stuff to play with so i will copy from the project page i put up to save myself the time in writing

Project NitroGen was started by EvoMR who got the community interested in starting the process of reverse engineering the stock Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T ECU at Gencoupe.com, the primary backer had undisclosed circumstances that prevented him from continuing the project so interest declined.

Since then the project has been picked up and spearheaded by BadBoyBill (William Worley). Since taking over the project Bill has reinforced the support contributors, prospective consumer community and given it the code name "NitroGen".

So far mine and others progress has been shown in the following thread Crack the stock ECU

The following project plan is now in place and will be strictly followed to ensure the completion of this project within a timely manor

Read factory Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T ECU to obtain ROM .bin file, using a software solution
Write factory .bin back to factory Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T ECU to ensure the software is working properly.
Decompile/decipher factory .bin file.
Compile new .bin and verify that it can be written to factory Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T ECU without faults.
Ensure checksum algorithm is working correctly by installing maps with various parameters.
Document maps and possible areas of interest to promote project growth.
Confirm maps can be loaded into software for map manipulation
Release NitroGen Alpha to testers so we can isolate and remedy possible communication issues.
Confirm NitroGen Alpha success with ZERO communication issues.
Release NitroGen Beta to broader spectrum of users to isolate and remedy possible read/write anomalies.
Confirm NitroGen Beta success with ZERO read/right discrepancies.
Release NitroGen Version 1.0 after NitroGen Beta success
Continue research and development until any and all possible enhancement limits have been reached.
