not going to happen...the tendency of late is smaller engines with turbo's and gdi....the 3.8 will more then likely get gdi on the facelift...rumor has it the turbo for hte coupe will get bigger but NO GDI...so the tuners will be happy about that one.

probably the same twin scroll thats on the sonata turbo...not sure of exact size...they really dont tell you what the specs are ( i just looked for about 15 min) iirc its running 17psi on the sonata. really the only thing different is the turbo and the fact that its Gdi....it would be very easy for hyundai to swap over the larger turbo, upgrade injectors (obviously different from the gdi version, but could be borrowed from another car...maybe a v8? but just switch the connectors because the v8 is Delphi and the turbo coupe is Siemens) and reflash the ecu....you probably wouldnt even have to replace the fmic....if they did they already have the intercooler from the sonata (although that is vertically mounted not horizontally)

The new trend is turbo engines with more power.
I would say based on market trends Hyundai will put this engine in the base coupe and re-adjust the 3.8.

from a tuner point of view....Hyundai has already proved that they do not care.
how many warrranties were void just from minor mods done to the engine.
I had a friend who was refused warranty on his tail light because it was tinted!!
there are so many horror stories from every dealership our there about warranty stuff.

they need to prove that hte piece you put on hurt the piece that is affected...if they cant do that...you go to the regional manager. then you go to corporate...no dealership wants to hear from the coperate HQ

so i was at the dealership with my honda fan boy brother in law (not as bad as others, but still like...my honda is the best) and we test drove the sonata turbo....

tbh....i really didnt care it had an auto, because its MOVED. the shiftronic was a joke and slow to upshift (usually hyundai) the car was faster in auto mode. if there was any car that would NEED a manual this car is it! or even a dual clutch setup. it was a super nice car. the interior is insanely good and well put together. the seats were rediculously comforatable. i took some pics with my phone, so when i get a chance i'll throw them up. i do seriously think that with some hardpipes, FMIC, and a couple of little supporting mods like a full exhuast with a reflash, you could be getting over 300whp...

the ecu does a good job about keeping the tires to the ground and maximizing acceleration, i didnt get a chance to get it up on the highway (not enough gas in the car) and the car limits boost in 1st and 2nd gear to help with torque steer and wheel spin, so the 19psi is only realized in third gear and i was not about to be doing 70mph on 192 in melbourne...sorry.

i might have to convince the wife to get one...i have been telling here how nice the sonata is and its been growing on her....(but she said..."I dont need the turbo") no but I DO! ahahh

    pics....

vertical FMIC...this looks much thicker then the gen coupe's FMIC
