    Thumbs up How to "CMD"

Hey guys, so here's the short story. my buddy has a 2.0t genesis and he's done a couple of things to it like intake, turbo back, and now he got the CDM dynojet along with their wideband. we installed it all today and it all went fine, but now it's time to get familiar with the master control (i think that's what's its called) software from them. so my questions are, is there a "how to" on the CMD? can you live tune and trace data or is it more like EcuFlash where you have to flash, run/log, stop and analyze, adjust, flash, and then run again? I'm very very familiar with Ecuflash, AP, and AEM since I have an Evo X that I tune myself along with other evo Xs, IXs, and VIIs around utah so i'm just trying to familiarize myself with this new software? is reading the online manual my best bet? Thanks guys.

OK so i just went to their home page and i saw that they have 3 maps available for the 2.0t. Am i suppose to download one of these maps and then customize it from there? or can i pull the stock map that the vehicle has and work with that? does the vehicle need to be off in order to pull the map (in the on position)?

Since you have both CMD and Wideband use the autotune feature.

I too am just learning the how tos on it. There help section is not much more than an item locater telling what the icons and pages are. But their email help through the contact tech support from the home page is great and you will get your answers quickly.

Currently though I am still having issues with logging and a way to display it so that it is easily seen what you need to see.

The autotune does work great. You need to log but not save the log and just drive around making sure you do some WOT to redline pulls. And after making a correction with the auto tune be sure to pull the ECM fuse to clear out the learned behavior before restarting the car.

ok, lets talk more about this autotune feature. What is it excatly? it's sounding like i should be able to tune his car live then right? why do you need to clear the learned behavior after you tune it with autotune?

so am i suppose to download one of the maps from their site or can i pull the oem map?

You need some sort of MAP. To edit the existing one you can pull it out and then apply the changes then load the map and save a copy.

You should get the MAP out of the CMD.
    Activate the autotune feature.
Clear the ECU so that you are dealing with non corrected values.
    Drive around while sampling.

    Then get Map.
Right click on the Autotune trim tab and choose apply all

You really need to monitor the Fuel injector duty cycle though. If you have done any IC work or exhaust you are probably out of fuel injector. This can be seen on the WBO2 gauge as going lean at higher rpm/load and high boost. Your target should be 11.0-11.5 so I am told.

CMD has real time logging and data viewing but you will have to shut the car off to send any changes to the CMD. Drive, log, analyze, adjust, send changes, drive.

Since it's still a piggy back you can't download a map from the stock ecu. The tunes/maps for CMD are offsets for the factory tune, IE, CMD wants 90% duty cycle on the injectors, ECU calls for 80%, CMD adds a little juice to the signal before it hits the injectors (or boost solenoid for boost)... Here's a post I had on another forum with links to some base maps Dynojet used to have on their site that you can use as a starting point. The main thing you'll almost for sure have to adjust is the MAP and TIP clamp values. The values I needed were pretty close to the ones in the maps but I did have to adjust them on my car. You can find MAP/TIP logging /clamping instructoins on Dynojets website I believe. With clamps too high the ecu will throw an overboost code and with clamps to low you will create more boost than the tune calls for since the ecu won't see enough boost and keep the wastegate shut... The 24psi map is not a daily driving tune and probably shouldn't be used.

The usual, I take no responsiblity for your motor disclaimer...

Due to variations with different cars, mods, etc you may need to adjust your MAP/TIP clamp values to keep from overboosting and going into limp mode. Dynojet has plenty of tutorials and information on their website, and some links in this thread with information on the basics of CMD.

Autotune will only adjust fuel settings based on a lamda value you specify in certain parts of the AutoTune map in the MCC so it's great for fine tuning but I wouldn't slap a GT30 on, crank up the boost, and go for wot runs. You'll have to go in baby steps if swapping turbos.

I really don't know for sure when using the AutoTune feature whether sampling is required for the CMD to fill in the trim table. It may be part of the firmware and in the CMD module itself. I'll find out today when I connect to the CMD and look for trims in the on board MAP.

Autotune does store the trims in the map, it calculates them as you drive... You have to make sure you hit those cells for any autotuning to take place.

Which MAP though? The one in the CMD or do you have to be sampling to create data to the MAP in the laptops memory?

I guess my question is can I just enable AutoTune, load that MAP into the CMD, then drive around, Get Map and then apply changes without any sampling?
