    Default Stalling Issue

So I was pulling out of the gas station yesterday and I got about 2 blocks before my car stalled. Complete shut down, check engine light, and all battery lights. I then put it in park are restarted the car. The car powered up and I pulled away.

I brought it to the dealer and they state that it’s because I put 89 octane in the car instead of 93. Now I’ve had many turbo charged cars that claim they need 93 but always put 89 and never had an issue.

Do you think the dealer is just brushing me off or is this a legitimate excuses?

Thats BS. Have them take a look at the owners manual. Under Fuel Requirments it says "Your new vehicle is designed to use only unleaded fuel having a pump octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 or higher."

I run mine on 87 and never had any stalling issues.

yup, BS, as long as it's over 87 its fine. What were you doing when it stalled? just accelerating or shifting? Or were you in neutral and coasting?

I got no idea.. but it sounds electrical. Any mods to the OEM wiring?
Reason I was wondering what you were doing is because my car make this backfire like sound and lurched while I was coasting out of gear, and they think I might have blown a syncro.

It's a boosted car, i would run it on 93 octane. Safer than running it on 87 just in case you overboost for some reason(weather change). Less chance of detonating.

The ECU compensates for different fuels, it even has a knock sensor to detect that, in which it'll adjust your fuel map to fix it.
Boosted or not, fuel does not cause electrical failure. He didn't lurch or kick, he was coasting without applying power.. if it goes dead, it for whatever reason got an off signal.

    Do you havea proximity key?

yeah definitely not because of the gas.. it does say we can use regular in the manual.
    that is pretty weird though
my car had a similar problem, i was pulling up to a light in neutral and the car stalled, when i started it back up in neutral it grinded and had a CEL and was in limp mode..
dealership tried saying i hydrolocked with my cai even though there was barely any rain if not any at the time it stalled.. still have no idea what caused it.
