@Tsukuba
get your tranny checked.. because it might have been that and not hydro lock, on another thread I remember you mentioning that... there is a TSB to have lighter weight oil for the M/T, thats a good excuse to look for debris.
Hyundai very specifically wanted this car to run on regular. That is a strange problem though.

well the first dealership said my tranny was ok.. but after i get my stock intake parts back in the car i'm gonna have the dealership that actually replaced my tranny look at it
they don't mind a few mods, but i just want to be on the safe side this time so they don't try blaming my cai cause i want to know the real problem...

I'm really lucky, my dealership doesn't care about mods, so long as it's not an ECU flash.

Pmastron is a warranty voiding specialist for Hyundai Dealership! Everyone beware!
But I do think that they could tell by simply reading the flash data on their computers or checking maps. Obviously there is something different loaded into the ECU.

I know, and my dealership knows, but since I'm honest with them, they're honest with me. With how many issues we're having with my tranny, when they have to go to HQ to get permission to do a 3-4000$ tranny swap, when they're asked "do you know of any modifications that would void warranty?" I'd like them to have a clear conscience.
And yes, I understand that unless they can prove beyond a doubt that the mod was the cause... blah blah, not flashing my ECU was my choice, not my dealers recommendation.

I asked that very question. The dealer has no way of telling. The ECU would have to be shipped out to HQ. I thought It was odd as well. I also know my dealer will overlook just about everything short of NOS as long as its professionally done. Their concern is major engine failure, which has to go to Hyundai, and would be very difficult to explain.
Also my dealer is looking into making GC's with Stage 1 and Stage 2 mods for purchase. So it will be hard to void a warranty, when they sell cars with BOV's WGA's catback FMIC's.
It does come down to the dealer in the end.
Most important thing; use an OEM oil filter, and keep impeccable records. If there is an internal engine failure and you have an aftermarket filter your warranty is void
you know, I read that TSB about 2.0's and the oil filter, so I went and bought a Hyundai oil filter, to look at it (and get ready for my oil pressure sender install) the Hyundai one is different than a Wix and K&N.. I thought it was BS but looking at them right beside eachother, it's return is different.
Anyone know if the 3.8's need a specific filter too or are they good for anything?

This is very interesting stuff about the mods and the warranty...kinda changes my thoughts on some things I'd like to do.
