should I buy the manual transmission? This is very disappointing, i thought hyundai was reliable now???
Oh yeah I really doubt its hydrolock... but I'm gonna call them again and tell them it can't be from that. Yeah you wouldn't have that problem of getting hydrolocked.
I'm not sure if they do. They told me they would try to check the code to see what it was even though it didn't show up anymore though.

YES you should
I am not so sure now, i dont want to have to go to the dealer every weekend and spend hours of my time sitting there while they figure out what is wrong. Does hyundai even give loaner cars?? I'm so sick of having unreliable cars in the past that I want something reliablle and the 5 year warranty is one of the most important things.

Hyundai is having issues with this transmission for whatever reason.. some are affected, some arn't. They have however been stepping up to the plate to try and get it fixed.

Hyundai hasn't changed very much if anything at all for the 2011 GC. They built new tranny's for late production GC's in 09, so it's not a huge concern like it was when they first came out.. keep in mind, we got the 2.0T around the same time Korea did, so it's fairly new over there too. I was suppose to get one of the new transmissions, but it worked like junk for the first while and got tolerable as the weather warmed up. But Pmastron also got a new tranny and swears by it.

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with the OP but thought since this one was started I'd add to it.
Well.. since I got on this forum I've bitched about the GC's manual tranny.. today.. I finally got back to my dealership and had them take it for a drive and they are putting in a claim for my clutch. Apparently the GC isn't suppose to have a clutch like a light switch nor is the shifter suppose to vibrate... find out if Hyundai will approve a new clutch, and possibly a flywheel and pressure plate. I hope so... I've owned the car just over a year and don't even have 15,000km on it! (appx 9000 miles)

got to love a warrantyJust sucks that you have to go through all of that
I got 4000 miles on my 2.0T Track... Besides the shifter being very mechanical (You can feel the gears interlocking and even when your syncros start to touch... I like this actualy) I like the tranny... As for the clutch being like a light switch I only notice this when Im lazy and sometimes I'll stall out of pure carelessness. I also learned to drive MT on a STI clutch which was unforgiving too so maybe thats why I like it more then some.
I do get alot of vibration in the shifter I definately have alot of that....
